Gary - can you reason why Will would lie, since almost everyone else from Tiger Woods to many politicians to Lindsay Lohan
always lie and say they DO have addictions
in order to have an alibi & get out of the charges?

    Hmm ..an attorney...interesting....

because then if he does know any facts about the case, then he is violating the very fundamental ethics of his own profession and it's unethical, unprofessional, and dishonest
...however - if he really doesn't have any fundamental knowledge of the case, then he's obviously lying...I really can't see any in-between.

I am taking it as a sign the judge is not impressed with the severity of the behavior or not fearful WE's gonna go out and repeat the behavior
I know, I know, I know.... Just some 'gallows humor'....

If I can't find some way to laugh about this, I'd just cry all day...

While it's easy to blame his knee pain and take into account his otherwise clean record and positive character traits that everyone at BU knows, an independent third-party should be involved to make absolutely sure there is not a larger problem with addiction.
85% of what KW wrote is spot on. I wish for the sake of Will and the program he would not have gone into specific treatment without knowing the facts unless he also wrote other likely outcomes if perhaps WE is not remotely dependent on pain-killers. I agree there needs to be a 3rd party involved to determine his overall health. I'd also suspect that WE may be better served practicing and playing ball if physically healthy enough. The team is like a family to him I bet and hard workouts can help you in numerous ways. Just ripping that fabric away completely may do him more harm then any possible good.

I'm a person that believes that the drug issues in this country need to be addressed as an illness and not as a criminal offense. The only reason I'd hold him out of playing would be for his physical and mental well being.

ding ding we may have a winner. That would make sense. I re-read it as a narrative and if the track is taken it would put everyone in a good light in a months time.

            • I find it amusing how KW writes a opinion column expressing his hope that Egolf's situation be handled very carefully with his mental and physical health being the priority, and people still somehow find a way to take issue with it.

He should have put an "In my opinion" in front of or after that statement. It is stated as if it is a fact, and by someone who is now some kind of authority.
The entire thing is an opinion piece. It's not a news article. Writing "in my opinion" would be a little overkill.

so why does he call someone at the addiction center to get a narrative of how to treat drug addiction - he needs help with his opinion?
..and he starts his dissertation with "I have no idea if WE has an addiction"...but "I know he has a problem"
then proceeds to spend two pages telling us how he ought to go about treating his addiction problem including detailing 30-day stays in the inpatient de-tox center...
sounds like a pretty strong directive and not just opinion...

Its called research! There's nothing wrong with asking an expert their opinion. I'm not a KW fan - you can read my posts on this subject- but this piece is not so far off.

I've also seen people with addiction problems and I know how it can set them back tremendously if not nipped in the bud. I'd rather take a cautious route on this any day.

                    - what have you got?

I don't think they should drag him into a 30-day stay in the de-tox center as some have suggested
I have provided my opinion...go back and reread my posts in this thread.

The biggest difference between you and me in this case is I'm looking at it with an unbiased opinion. You just can't stand the thought of KW providing an informative op-ed piece that most people on this forum actually agree with.

Like most message boards, there is a place for differing opinions. I agree with KW's and disagree with yours.

                    • I just reviewed the last three pages of this thread and quite frankly I am stunned. Everyone knows that I hate the PJS, but in all honesty, there is nothing wrong with KW's column! The views in KW's column can also be found in parts of this thread! Will has a problem and Bradley along with the fans of the program need to support him.

What his column says in essence is "I'm not sure if he has an addiction, but I suspect he does and hope he gets it treated appropriately." How you can possibly interpreting it any other way baffles me.

KW could write a column that said "tornado is a smart and insightful person" and you would probably still take issue with it.

                        • definitely but if I thought he had "a problem" then called the psychiatric nurse and got a lengthy description of how he might treat his problem - then just what MIGHT I be speculating even if I have zero evidence??
