I agree with the lying possibility.

He could also have "knee pain" not related to his ACL tears...

I happen to know/be acquaintances the the State's attorney..... should I put in a good word.

Everyone is different, I understand that. But it's not like you can totally trust the word of a guy that was buying drugs at 8:00pm outside a smoke shop on NYE...
If this was another type of drug, then I could buy into this premise. The team practiced on Monday and he played 3 games between 12/22 and 12/29. I can see how his knees would be sore.

Now that this news is out, it fits what what I first heard around noon today, and as I alluded to with my post. The guy arrested with Will is charged with selling prescription Vicodin he obtained.
Will has no police record, and no history of substance abuse that I am aware of. Agreed, that this is still a crime to buy a prescription controlled substance without a prescription, in fact it is a felony, but IMO, it is not nearly as serious as it first may have appeared. Nonetheless, Bradley needs to prepare to be without Will for a while.

I believe Nacho is an illinois state fan. Surprise!

Agree. As much as some on this board would like to make it appear others want him to be guilty, Will put himself in this situation.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

People! Get your head out of the sand! Do you know how closely our coaches/trainers/ Drs. work with players? Not to mention injured players???? are you kidding?

                  • My question on this is what is Bradley's protocol on testing and allocating pain killers to athletes? If I remember correctly, the NCAA leaves this to the individual schools to enforce. I am not trying to blame Bradley in this instance. WE may or may not have an addiction. I am sure this is something that will be reviewed by the powers that be in the near future.

While I'm still disappointed in the judgement (or lack thereof) in purchasing pain killers from someone on the street, it is not nearly as bad as it could have been! However, I am confused as to why he wouldn't just go to a trainer/doctor and let them know he needed something to control his knee pain.

Some people have said he should be kicked out of school because of this situation......BEFORE they even knew what happened.
No. I can't remember anyone on here saying he should be kicked out of school until all the facts came out. You and others are completely misstating what people said. There was NO one on here that thought he should have been kicked out of school unless it happened to be crack that he bought, and/or if they caught him selling drugs. No one on here even knew what drug he bought until the story came out 45 minutes ago! So yes, some here would have been in favor of him being expelled if it was a more serious offense.

Fortunately it was a pain killer he bought, and like I said earlier, I have more sympathy for people like Will because it is very tough to kick this drug. I only wish he used better judgement and went to the team doctor and coaches to discuss this issue, and for that he should be suspended for however many games the coaches deem fit. But he can also use this as a great real world learning experience that he can use to teach others. But please don't accuse people of saying things that weren't true. No one, and I mean NO one on here wanted the guy suspended until all the facts came out!

Every other MVC school has these kinds of arrests and they don't even hit the newspaper...and the kids are back in either zero or one game...
I trust our staff will handle this properly but it hurts Bradley - it is disappointing...
I have always been 100% consistent on this issue - it should be punished substantially - my kids' high school docks a kid 1/3 of the season for such an arrest..
then reinstate the kid unless there's been a pattern of same - as is the case at SIU
According to Week and Lee Hall he was arresred for Vicodin and Hydocodone, these are pain killers I think, not exactly cocaine or heroin so I think Bradley needs to get him some help and give him the 10% suspension as they are partly to blame in that no one gave him the proper counseling as far as what to expect after his injuries.

Agreed. I can see a 2 to 4 game suspension for this. I think it's a great lesson learned, and I hope and pray he gets the help he needs to kick this drug.

I don't recall EVER saying anyone "on here" said such things. In fact, I lost track of what everyone everywhere seemed to think should be the punishment.

My point exactly! So why not refrain from all the what-ifs and wait for the actual facts to come out?

                            • What is really best for Will?

This is not about basketball any more. "That you are aware of"? There is so much over the last 6 years that we are "not aware of". The Braves program is aware of much more than all of us. And there is so much that they will never tell us. That is why as much as we want to know every little detail we must trust the University and Geno to do what is best for Will and for BU. And anyone that dares second guess what that might be... just remember you don't have all of the facts and probably never will.
