Originally posted by Braves4Life View PostHearing this news just makes me so sad. Will has been a model citizen during his tenure at Bradley and should be disciplined according to the athletic code of the university. I don't know the facts but, if he simply had weed in his possession, I believe he should be subject to the 10% minimum rule just as any other athlete would be. I believe this is his first infraction while at BU and, as such, I don't believe Geno should impose a "death penalty" on him by ending his BU career.
He's had more than enough chances to get his education and play basketball, and they agree to a code of conduct both by BU and the NCAA, sorry but if you break the rules, you pay the price.

PJ Star article just updated-
I still think there is a chance Will might be able to get out today. It would take a special action by a judge, but even though this is a holiday, from what I am told, there is always a judge available for emergency decisions, and sometimes a lawyer can get that to happen.

Given the incredible damage drugs of all types (tobacco, alcohol, and other) have had on our society, I will go neo - con and suggest Will be removed from the BU MBB program/scholarship if he is guilty of a drug/alcohol violation.
Zero tolerance should be the norm. It is time to stop coddling young men and women and let them know society has rules and their actions have consequences. We all marvel at how smart todays kids are vs former generations, they know the rules and exactly what they are doing at much younger ages.
It's the way society responds to them 'pushing the envelope' that determines what they will try or think they can get away with.
While there will always be a few very disappointed kids who will pay the price of being immaturely stupid, within a short time college athletics would be drug free.
This would also be consistent with the BU President's emphasis on reigning in underage drinking at BU.
Will hold further comments until the facts are out.BUilding for the Future

more than a few games at stake
you know there may be more than a few basketball games on the line, hopefully WE has some help in his corner and someone really looking after what will help his future. he may have become addicted to pain killers as a result of his injuries. this happens often, do the research. I would rather see him not have a problem, fans should support the team and players, he made a mistake, now learn from it and become a better person. those of you that have never made a mistake, cast the first stone.
Hope to see things work out for ya Will, prayers your way.Lets surrender ..... Chesty Puller.... "H*$$ NO !!! we have the enemy right where we want them they can't hide"

If his scholarship is revoked for violation of the COD would he be responsible for repaying his tuition? I have tens of thousands in student for BU and stayed away from drugs knowing the impact it could have on my career aspirations."How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it." - Jim Valvano

Originally posted by Da Coach View PostThere was a big difference- in the Ruffin case, the media got a hold of the actual police report immediately and by this time the following morning were reporting such things as "ligature marks" and "kicking" as fact when they were later found to be totally erroneous.
The claim that the JS published a copy of the police report on the Ruffin incident "within a few hours" is false. First news reports were based on an arrest report that provided limited information. We published a story based on information in that report, but we did not publish that report. We had to file an FOIA request for the full police report and weren't provided it until more than 60 hours after the incident took place. We did post that report on our website.
In this case, as in that one, we will publish information as we're able to obtain it.
