Hearing this news just makes me so sad. Will has been a model citizen during his tenure at Bradley and should be disciplined according to the athletic code of the university. I don't know the facts but, if he simply had weed in his possession, I believe he should be subject to the 10% minimum rule just as any other athlete would be. I believe this is his first infraction while at BU and, as such, I don't believe Geno should impose a "death penalty" on him by ending his BU career.

I agree as well if it's as bad as it looks..

You're right that this is a chance for Geno to make a statement and I would be fine if he chooses to do that. However, other BU players under other BU coaches have done the same and have not been kicked off the team; I don't believe Will should be either. Now, if other facts surface that prove this to be more serious than simple "possession" of a "minor" drug (if there is such a thing) then I would have a different opinion.

this is actually the FIFTH suspension for breaking team rules so far this season, and I am confident Bradley will pursue the proper discipline...

Question: What has Will's track record been tornado? My understanding is that he has been pretty good over his six years. Do you feel this justifies his dismissal from the team?

I believe he has absolutely NO prior police record, and if this arrest is for anything short of meth or heroin then why should he be dismissed?
Every other MVC school has these kinds of arrests and they don't even hit the newspaper...and the kids are back in either zero or one game...
I trust our staff will handle this properly but it hurts Bradley - it is disappointing...
I have always been 100% consistent on this issue - it should be punished substantially - my kids' high school docks a kid 1/3 of the season for such an arrest..
then reinstate the kid unless there's been a pattern of same - as is the case at SIU

Considering he has already served that one game suspension for a violation of team rules, this is at least his second violation. Simple extrapolation would suggest that if there have been two in just one year, there are likely to have been others in previous years. I hope I'm wrong on that, but it seems probable.

But even if we assume it truly is just his second rule break, it certainly still deserves more than just the minimum punishment by virtue of him being a repeat rule breaker. Then considering that it was something very stupid and it should probably be a pretty severe punishment.

He was suspended for some team infraction earlier this year. I believe that he was also suspended at least once under the previous coach as well.

the suspension at the beginning of this year was for a violation in a previous year if you recall...
he has no police record...he has no prior arrests
btw-- didn't Geno suspend at least two players last year as well?? Did JL have seven suspended players in his entire nine seasons?

Yes, but if you read between the lines on that infraction (which effected several players and occurred either over the summer or at the end of the last school year) it was EXTREMELY minor... Maybe not even a violation in the sense of team rules. Again, I stand behind my belief (based on what little we know at this point) that Will should NOT be kicked off the team.

I also have an issue with the fact that Will is a 6th year player and team leader. He isn't a young kid, new to Peoria, finding his way.

That's fine. Clearly, there are going to be differing points of view.

Should be interesting........I vote to keep him on the team with a longer suspension then the NCAA calls for pending details of course!. Move JP to start and SS 1st guy off the bench w/ JC or KD, NW has got to get some mins now which is going to be great for him. I will support BU/ Geno in whatever decison is made. There is a up and down to everything. GO BU! Beat the Dawgs.

I do not believe the NCAA has any specific rules governing suspensions for legal issues or substance issues during the regular season. Every school has their own rules governing this. The NCAA does have rules about testing positive on official NCAA administered drug testing during NCAA tournament events (recall Ray Brown).

According to Dave Reynolds- Will is still sitting in the Peoria jail.
He says "They're still waiting for state's attorney to check in so no bond set for Egolf".
