Speaking of our upcoming game with SIU:

Just got the annual Christmas letter from a friend who took her daughter there for a college tour (no, don't ask me why). She pointed out the posters around the campus for a "Marijuana Research Project" looking for students to participate. She quickly struck SIU off of her list. I admit to seeing the same types of things at the colleges I have been touring with my child (subsequently struck off my list). With this kind of attitude out there, should we be surprised when kids wander off the "straight and narrow"?

That would send a strong signal to the rest/future recruits that if you think you are going to come here and screw up, especially after so much has been invested in you, you better think again, regardless of how much you might bring to the team.

Does the arresting agency suggest the severity of the charges?

This is a huge disappointment. I'll await the facts, but I fear the worst. I guess we'll see. What a situation to start the New Year with. Will started the year great, but the past few games his production fell off. I now wonder why. Regardless, this is so disappointing. Perhaps I'm jumping to a conclusion, but I've learned over the years that where's theire's smoke there is usually some fire. Every individual is responsible for their actions. Our University should await the facts and then do what's in it's best interest and that's a higher bar then the 2012/2013 basketball season.

btw-- didn't Geno suspend at least two players last year as well?? Did JL have seven suspended players in his entire nine seasons?
Just because JL is not the coach anymore does not mean discipline problems will not occur. Who knows, maybe Geno runs a tighter ship than JL and doesn't put up with garbage JL did, thus the reason for suspensions last year. And please don't delete this because my opinion differs from yours. That's the point of a message board....for people to express opinions

We will see what happens with the WE case, but Jim Les was a very strict disciplinarian. So from what I know, your are 100% wrong in suggesting that JL "put up with garbage". We even had our best player (Granger) leave Bradley just because he didn't like being punished for missing the team bus to Evansville.
He never tolerated players late to practices or for the bus, which other coaches allow all the time.

And any posts deleted were deleted by me. Tornado is not a moderator, and has no ability to delete posts. We are not going to allow this discussion to turn into an agenda driven attack on the current or previous coaches.

the only reason for a comparison to the prior staff is to point out the HUGE, vast difference in the ways that the press is and will treat this.
With the prior staff, little issues like a spat, a missed post-game snack, or a tweet dominated headlines for days, and prompted comments like "renegade program"
and other issues like DRuff were rehashed in headlines for months and months and caused the writers to call for the coach's firing

WMBD is reporting that Will is going to stay in detention until his hearing Wednesday afternoon

BTW - when the media reported on the Daniel Ruffin issue they were wrong on a number of facts then later blamed their reporting errors
on being given the wrong facts from the police report being inaccurate!

I fail to see how different the media is reporting this. The PJS reported this in a VERY timely fashion and probably will continue to follow up on this.

I agree in that I need to hear all the facts before I make any judgement on this matter, Will has not been in trouble before and something just does not add up right to me on this so I can only hope it is not as bad as it sounds.

There was a big difference- in the Ruffin case, the media got a hold of the actual police report immediately and by this time the following morning were reporting such things as "ligature marks" and "kicking" as fact when they were later found to be totally erroneous.

And I think we need to wait for more details, but some kinds of illegally obtained "prescription drugs" would even fall into the felony realm, as opposed to "weed" which in most cases would not. So let's hope that is not the case.

The document provides a daily commitment report listing individuals who were booked into or released from custody by various law enforcement agencies between December 31, 2012 and January 1, 2013. It includes each individual's booking number, time booked, time released, gender, race, custody status and age. For each booking it also lists the arresting officer, case report number, case number and arresting agency. A variety of criminal charges are listed for each individual's booking including battery, theft, drug possession and traffic violations.

                              Jail inmates.

ETA: looks like another central Illinois sports figure is on the list as well.....
