anyone know or hear anything of how the transfers are doing in workouts & practices...?
Neither seems to be bulking up visibly yet....and Fields has been hurt a lot of the time.
Haven't heard much of Grier, But in practice the 2nd team doesnt win or play near as competitive while Fields was out, Hes gonna be a impact player, but that wrist I think it is has plagued him throughout his life lets hope we are done with that!
Geno raved about Fields on the postgame yesterday, said he is leading the 2nd team to really push the first team guards. You could tell he wanted to say even more about impressed he is with Fields but held back.
From somebody who saw a practice in early Nov, Grier has no conscience from deep and is pretty accurate. The person guessed he would be a 15-20 mpg 6th man next season.
These 2 players will be major contributors next season and I am happy we will have them for 3 seasons, Fields is exactly what we need to run the point and from everything I have heard Grier is a very good shooter and I like his size.
I am encouraged about what I hear about these 2 transfers, but like any incoming players, they haven't proven anything yet, and recruits don't always live up to their hype. Let's hope they do contribute next season.

Obviously tornado has not seen Fields play... Have you seen him play Da Coach? I think you will be very impressed with him. He's legit... The real deal. He may be the highest level recruit to come to BU in a LONG time. What would you guys have been raving about him if we had signed him out of high school instead of Wake Forest? The only question mark is whether he can stay injury free and, most who personally know him, feel that his injuries have been freal accidents... just bad luck. I look forward to him leading BU to a Valley title before he graduates... with honors.
Now, I cannot speak on Grier but feel confident that he will be a MAJOR upgrade as an outside shooting threat... especially since we have NONE right now.
I'll be very surprised if Grier isn't a starter next year. I don't think either Bell or Crawford will start ahead of him, and Tucker would have to be really good to start as a freshman.

I have not seen him play. I have spoken to the coaches about him. He is a much better ball handler and passer than anyone we have now. But he does have some shortcomings- he is not a very good outside shooter, something we could really use. And because he has been injured so much, he has not been able to work on his shot as much as he wants. In nearly 2 years of college, he has rarely been healthy. After missing so much time due to injuries, the coaches have wondered if it is not just due to "freak accidents".
Out of high school (Quality Education) his offers were from Wake Forest, Rice, Eastern Michigan, and Western Michigan. He was 2-stars on Scout and ESPN, and 3-stars on Rivals.
I would disagree that "He may be the highest level recruit to come to BU in a LONG time". Bradley has signed numerous 2-3 star kids in the past, and one of the recruits we had signed and lost with the fallout from the coaching change was rated higher that Fields was rated. And Bradley fans are always happy to sign a 2 or 3-star PG out of high school and have always supported them, but in fact we have landed point guard recruits rated just as highly as Fields each of the last 2 years!
Ka'Darryl Bell AND Donivine Stewart were both rated exactly the same as Fields out of high school (each had 2-stars from Scout and ESPN, and 3-stars from Rivals)-
I respect your opinion and agree with your assessment of Fields Da Coach, but the "buzz" on Bell and Stewart was nowhere near what it was on Fields coming out of high school. Wake Forest was convinced that Fields would be their PG of the future. Unfortunately for Wake, their coach is very over rated and got his job through his buddy... Both will be gone from there soon. If Fields can shed his injury bug I think his quickness alone will allow him 6-8 ppg off of steals and fast breaks. I also know he will deliver passes better than anyone on the current roster which should result in more finished plays. Hopefully, his shot improves with the extra year of practice but I doubt his shot is any more mechanically flawed (read: ugly) than Walt's.
Da coach I couldn't agree more about your assessment of Fields. He is not one of the top recruits BU has ever had. He just started practicing last week with the team. He has flaws...outside shot, injury prone, finishing at basket. He does however have supreme quickness and great work ethic and is a great leader which you need at the pg spot. I think he will help and he is a great kid.
I hope Grier and Fields are awfully good next year. At the very least we win against VT and Portland this year with a juco point guard and juco shooter.
