The mighty redbirds are down 27-36 at halftime.

isu is not shooting the ball too well from anywhere on the floor.

Former BU recruit Justin Gant having his career game with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and outplaying Jackie Carmichael. The other BU recruis in the game-
John Wilkins 0 points, 1 rebound
      Tyler Brown 11 points

Indiana State leads 60-55 with 7:35 left.

Hmmm... interesting -- Illinois State has not won in Terre Haute in 6 seasons now!
The Indiana State defense held them to just 37% shooting - well below their 51% average.
Then again if your top two scorers shoot 7-27 - you're gonna get beat...

And no mention as to why they shuffled the lineup a little bit...
We know why Geoffrey Allen isn't playing but Anthony Cousin - who some predicted would be a starter - never sees the floor any more..
Then Wilkins played way less than usual - which is odd considering Wilkins was coming off one of his best games - hitting 6-8 against Austin Peay...
but he was scoreless today and contributed absolutely nothing...

Even though they hit 41% from beyond the arc - they jacked up a pretty incredible 29 attempts from there ---even Carmichael was getting into the action missing threes....
            - but this game plan takes their big guys out of the game ..
Carmichael was just 4-15 on offense and his counterpart, ex-BU recruit Justin Gant had a great game with 18 pts, 11 rebs wearing his mouth protection.
Indiana State - hardly anyone's pick for the best frontcourt in the Valley
            - outscored the Redbirds 38-18 in the paint!!!!! - and outrebounded them 46-36.

I guess Muller must view his bench as being short because they were forced into "reactivating" Zeke Upshaw from about 3 years of obscurity at the far end of the bench -

BTW - Carmichael had 2 blocks and ties the career record for ISU - he's a good player.

With Carmichael's size and array of scoring moves, it is hard to imagine him shooting just 4-15 from the field, especially against a team not known for their size and inside depth. Is there any chance he could have a couple games like that against Bradley this year?

And Upshaw was forced to play only because Tyler Brown and Johnny Hill were in foul trpouble and eventually fouled out. His minutes came very late, but he canned 3 long threes in a short stretch that helped pull Illinois State from an 11 point deficit with a little over 3 minutes left (73-62) to within 1 point in the final 18 seconds, with a shot to win it. Maybe he should play a bit more.

Wichita State cruising- leading UNI 30-18 at halftime.
Missouri State, winless against D1 competition, is leading SIU 39-32 at the half.

Anyone break away from the Packers game long enough to check on the UNI-Wichita game??

iT'S ON COMCAST (CHANNEL 56) if you have local cable..

Wichita is playing shorthanded - missing three starters and playing relatively poorly and with 17 minutes left they have only 32 pts...but Northern Iowa is shooting miserably -- they have only 18 pts!!
The announcers seem to think this'll make everyone think the Valley is a really good league but I am worried that viewers will think the Valley stinks...

UNI just hit a couple shots in a row but were 7-29 before that and nobody on UNI has more than 2 rebounds

I am very impressed with the way Wichita St. is playing so far. They won't be an easy out even with their injuries. I did pick WSU to win tonight, but did not think it would be this easy so far.

No, I just looked at the score. I am still watching the Packers game now!

Rooney just hyped Anthony James for Valley Player of the Year...

No disrespect for James but I couldn't help but laugh...he's only 2-7 with one assist and no rebounds in this game
James averages 10.8 pts, 3.6 rebs, and just 1.8 asst...but hits only 37% from the field and 28% from 3-pt
McDermott avgs 23.5 ppg, 7 reb, and 1.8 asst and shoots 55.3% from the field and 50% from the arc.

I really doubt James is gonna beat out McDermott for the award..

now the score is 53-29 with Wichita running away with this game

BTW - Packers lose and Bears stay home for the winter

Missouri State up 7 at half over SIU

Dang it! The Bears miss the playoffs. Right or wrong, the "fire Lovie" talk begins!

                              Bring on some Valley basketball!
