I agree. We don't have enough Sat. night home games- believe it or not, tonight's game is the first, last, and only Saturday night home game of this entire season! Ouch.

That.....and the Valley season ticket package kicked in with this game. That should be an automatic increase in attendance and is probably a big reason for the increased number of tickets sold.

Our next home game will be going head-to-head with the NFL playoffs. Some people will have a decision to make!

Probably not Bears fans like me, unfortunately...

Looks good, nice win to kick off the Valley season. Good to see Walt bounce back and DSE play well, despite limiting Crawford- who I thought played well in Vegas. Completely unrelated: Jake played 30 scoreless minutes tonight...
Good win either way- gotta take as many as possible at Carver.

Kind of feared the upset before the, game, but could tell after about 5 minutes that we were slightly better and hungier.

Tyshon has just been solid this year and we'd be in bad shape without him.

Nice to see KB stepping up...young man seems poised. He will be a good one in a couple years, and we should be strong at PG then too (Fields Jr. season too).
Liked seeing Walt take the 2 spot with Bell feeling more comfortable at PG.

A little discouraged with WE and JP last night and as of late.

On the other hand, DSE and WL are Looking like 2nd team Valley guys if you consider their season up to this point.

Happy with a W, and I agree that this was a big game for BU to start the Valley season this way, and to help forget the last 2 dreadful Valley seasons!

                ....
I am curious why Jeremy Jeffers played only 1 minute in the game? He has not started a game this year, and only averages 11 minutes and 3.6 ppg. Last year he started most of Drake's games, and was their top 3-point shooter.

I have wanted to see more Saturday night games but we just never seem to be able to get any...
I looked back on the prior years' attendance numbers - and the earliest Saturday game in each season was one of the best crowds every year...
Every early season Saturday crowd we've had has been 8500, 9500, even over 10K...

..also Jeremy Jeffers was 4-8 from 3-pt against us in the two regular season games last year - and he was Drake's TOP 3-pt shooter last year at 43.2% (better than Ben Simons). Jeffers also shoots 93% on free throws!
He was a regular and a starter last year but has been demoted to a deep sub playing just over 10 mpg this year.
Another regular in the Drake lineup who started almost every game last year - Karl Madison -
The Des Moines Register column from yesterday suggested that he is recovered enough and ready to return from a knee injury but that the play of Mason & Carter has kept him on the bench.
Another of their columns labelled Madison "the forgotten man"..!

the playing time problem with Madison might get worse.....and Boston College point guard Jordan Daniels just quit the team and has "verbally committed" to Drake and should be eligible by mid-December next season..

BTW - speaking of home attendance - here are Drake's figures for the last few years...HORRIBLE - CAN THEY AFFORD TO KEEP Mark Phelps?
                2007-08 - 6038
                2008-09 - 5101
                2009-10 - 4510
                2010-11 - 4230
                2011-12 - 3965

You can thank these Sunday night ESPNU/ESPN3.com games. Great exposure for the Valley, but not a great time of the week to attend the games. Still should see a nice increase in attendence though if we continue to play well.
