Regardless, the conference schedule is going to be a grind. The Braves will see A LOT of zone, and will have to win some games on defense and grit, because it's hard to win basketball games when you shoot less than 40% from the field.
I agree! The other aspect of this team is that it is a terrible 3 point shooting team and when pressured they are not so good at getting the ball up the court. I'm not a fan of WL at point. Can anyone recount that terrible TO from him towards the end of the game where GF put his head in his hands. The announcers were saying he would be more effective playing the wing. They also said the offensive sets had a better flow with Bell playing point.

On the last play I would have given the ball to DSE to drive in and if they collapse look for WE in the corner not the wing for a 3.

Earlier in the game WL and DSE were on a break 2-2. WL had the ball and DES was open for a pass by the bucket. WL pulls out waits for everyone to get there, circles up to the top and shoots a contested 3. He's what you call a gunner, a Westbrook like player but cannot shoot like him. The team will come unglued if he continues going down this road. Love his D but he better figure out quickly how to become a better team player.

The team had a chance to win both games and lost , only thing I would have changed in the Portland game was give Gavin and Wells more minutes as the team was 2 steps slow all night except for Dyricus, cannot continue to play mainly 7 man rotation when you have so many games in a row as our players are not conditioned to do that, we are capable of winning the majority of our home games do to the great defense this team plays , we just need to start shooting the ball better which means taking less 3 point shots.

If WL isn't a point guard, then put him on the wing and give someone, anyone, else a chance. Know he's trying his best, but he's killing the team by playing out of position. Just my opinion.

Well it wasn't a 30 footer and right now Will has the best percentage on the team

.................ummmmmm....you just noticing this a year and a half into plugging Walt into the PG spot and about 500 threads since fall of 2011 dedicated to how he is not a PG?
Unfortunately - if there's something that can be cited as being a bad choice to this point in the GF-era - it's not having a PG...
WL doesn't even lead his own team in assists, assists per game or assist to turnover ratio...and isn't even in the top 10 in the MVC in assists per game.
He does lead the entire conference BY FAR in one thing.....3.8 turnovers per game....and many are NOT in an attempt to pass the ball, but are in an effort to create a shot.
BTW- 19% from the 3-pt arc also stands out..

Another quality post by the agenda-driven hack who calls himself a bu fan...what a joke.

Not just noticing it, just not wanting to put the blame on a kid who is just playing the position he is put into.

but some of the turnovers are bad regardless of what position he plays as are many of the shots selected & forced, & bad passes.....
Even if he were playing the 2-guard spot - he needs to clean up the TO's and bad shots

Even if he were playing the 2-guard spot - if he cleaned up the TO's and bad shots, we're a much better team and maybe win 2 of the 4 losses we have.

                          That's pretty obvious.

Because our previous staff did not bring in a true point guard we have suffered at this position, Walt will help us win more games then he will help us lose so until next season we will have to put up with the mistakes as we have no one on this team that is a better option. Everyone would have been ecstatic before the season with an 8-4 record at this time because I was told by many that I was way off when I predicted this record, there are going to be a lot more ups and downs this season but you have to agree in that the team has played a lot better this season and we still have a chance to win many more games do to the defense.

DSE can play the point a lot better.

I might agree with you except that now we've had more than a year and a half of Walt running the point in every practice and every game - and to suddenly switch in the last half of DSE's senior season might be risky....
but DSE's stats place him in the league's top 10 in both assists and A/T ratio

BTW - This Saturday we'll see a Drake point guard, newcomer Richard Carter, who is having a good year - averaging over 10 ppg, and among the leaders in the MVC in both assists and A/Turnovers...
And he was essentially there for the picking (only 2 offers - Drake and Pine Bluff!) - he was at Cloud County CC and averaged 19 ppg/5.3 apg his sophomore season- he's arguably already demonstrating he's one of the best PG's in the Valley and he had almost no other offers...so how does Drake figure this out & other teams that need a PG miss on him?
