  • Turnaround Braves

As we now know, BU has surpassed its win total from a season ago...AND IT'S STILL DECEMBER!!!

Are they the biggest story for best turnaround from last season to this one so far?

I don't have time to investigate - just wondering if anyone here has been following other turnaround success stories this year.

Even if we finish a shade over .500, we have to be considered one of the biggest turnaround programs in the country, having more than doubled our win total.

Canisius is off to an 8-2 start after finishing 5-25 last season. They are 2-0 in the MAAC after going 1-17 last season.

Turnarounds do happen. I'll wait to see how we stand after about 6 or 7 Valley games to really see how much we have improved.

The 1978-79 Braves finished in last place in the MVC under new coach Dick Versace. But the next year they finished 1st. I think it might be the only time that has happened.

I think there's a decent shot of being 5-2 after the first 7 Valley games.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Oh, what a great time that was in Bradley basketball history.

I believe we'll know much sooner. We'll get a good feel after the Drake game and our first road trip! As long as this team keeps playing with defensive intensity there's very little doubt that I'll be proud of this group.

Here's just another observation - Bradley is a team whose scoring is balanced and we have a significantly improved defense - especially the defense we can throw at the opponents' best scorer...

So - maybe that'll help us in Valley play because a few MVC teams rely LARGELY on one guy's scoring, while we do not.......

Bradley's best scorer accounts for 17.7% of their total scoring

Creighton's best scorer accounts for 29.3% of their total scoring

Drake's best scorer accounts for 20.0% of their total scoring

Evansville's story is skewed because of the early injury to Colt Ryan - but over the past six games since Colt Ryan has returned from injury -
their best scorer accounts for 19.4% of their total scoring

ISU's best scorer accounts for 22.6% of their total scoring

InSU's best scorer accounts for 22.8% of their total scoring

Missouri State's best scorer accounts for 21.3% of their total scoring

UNI's best scorer accounts for 16.23% of their total scoring

SIU's best scorer accounts for 21.1% of their total scoring

Wichita's best scorer accounts for 19.3% of their total scoring

How many of these scorers are guards that DSE or Walt would be guarding. Hopefully more than inside people?

When will the Braves improved play and record start reflecting in imroved home attendance? Do we still have 11,000 fans out there after the last few years?

Atleast to this guy there is no "turnaround" "feel good" story better than whats goin on right here! There is so much Peoria in this team, Hard nosed, in your face, we are gonna out work you, basketball. I could not be prouder of a group starting w/ Geno! Ill take Walt and DSE against any 2 guards in the nation! I like Crawford over Eastman and thats really saying something. The frontline is LEGIT! SS looking like hes about to take off! Specialy at the FT line, 2 to 3 more games and hes gonna start getting mins I think , TP and WE just need to stay on the court but the way they play fouls are gonna get called! Hello JP and SS Thats 4 beasts! 3 of them expearenced and dare I say it consistant!!!!!!!!!!!!! Were gonna see alot of zone in the valley, If we see zone tonight it will be a blessing because I think that will show desperation by Va Tech, We gotta get better at the high low stuff against the zone and have JE, JC, DSE, WL,WE knock down some shots, TP, JP and WE mid range, Shoot and CRASH! IF we can get these next 2! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Braves!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then come the BIG crowds????? I think yes!!!!!!!! How do you spell Bradley? BRADLEY ......Thanks to everyone who has had a hand in turning this thing around faster than anyone thought possible!!! DEFENSE! The Molinarmy chants of YOU CANT SCORE, may be making a come back! Dont get me wrong we have to play the games and yes luck will play a factor but I think this program has some good luck and breaks coming our way, say in the form of some 3's going down!

I'd be happy if we could shoot better than 40% from inside the arc.

I'd be happy with a point guard that didn't have double-digit turnovers!

Or make at least 1 of 3 freethrows at the end of the game.
