MVC games Thursday 12/20

There are 2 MVC games tonight, as Bradley leaves for Las Vegas (let's hope the weather stays good!)-

Charleston Southern at Wichita State (7:00 PM CST)

UC Davis vs. SIU (in Logan Utah- part of the Utah State World Vision Challenge)

UC-Davis has been playing better but still uses almost exclusively wing players & guards to do their scoring...
They have no real low post player in the top ten scorers on their team and their rebounding leader is a skinny 6-5 guy (180lb SF/SG) who grabs 9.6 rpg.

At least WSU is winning a game they're "supposed to win". They're leading Charleston Southern 57-43 with 5:24 left.

wow - in the SIU loss to UC-Davis -- Corey Hawkins was 12-12 from the FT line and is 94% on the season...

and SIU got only 2 baskets & 4 pts from their bench...the 6-5 kid we were talking about yesterday on UCD - Ryan Howley grabbed 15 rebounds - nearly as many as SIU's entire starting lineup
..and is now averaging 10.3 rpg

UC Davis also had a one point loss to Nevada and a 3 point loss to a mediocre Northern Arizona team. So they are very close to being above .500. Maybe they will make some noise in Big West play as that conference appears to be wide open this year. Unfortunately they don't have much of an inside game, and that may be their downfall unless they can feast on bad teams. Great to see Hawkins having a great year though.
