I agree. Our defense keeps us in and gives us a chance in games like this, but I think we have enough of a sample size to know that the shooting just isn't going to come along this year.Originally posted by tornado View Post

I really appreciate the effort and sacrifice that Walt has made for the team by accepting to play the role of PG... the leader of the team. It's obviously a position that he is not ideally suited for. I suspect he'll have much less trouble against less athletic mid-major MVC teams... That said, I can't wait for Anthony Fields next year!Comment

Just talking about BU taking VT to OT and BU a shot/FT away from a win, is such a great leap from last year.
Stay tough BU, no back sliding... Learn what it takes to beat BCS schools and how to close out games...

That's fine, but we did not finish the job last night. Even with the missed free throws, if we don't turn the ball over, we have a shot of at least hanging on. Plus a better night by WL would have compensated our lack of shooting. Not putting all the blame on him, but these things tend to get magnified when there isn't that much margin for error. You do also make a good point Gary regarding that will probably have more games like this during the Valley season. That's why even with a win last night, that would not have guarenteed anything in regards to making an NCAA Tournament or NIT run. That said, 10-3 in the non-conference season (includes a win tonight and in the Bracketbuster) combined with a 9-9 Valley record would probably get us into the NIT. I may be getting ahead of myself here, but I'm saying .500 in the Valley would probably be a reasonable goal, whether it's obtainable or not.Comment

Well that's what I'm kind of saying. I'm trying to downplay everyone's disappointed with last night's loss by saying that even with a win, Bradley would still have the difficult task of finishing at or above .500 in the Valley. And Virginia Tech isn't even one of the elite ACC teams anyway, although they are off to a better start than a lot of people thought. Still, big wins have a way of feeding on themselves, so it is possible we would have more momentum going into the Valley season. TOs is what killed us here and the belief that our guys can hit 3s. Was there a reason we kept on jacking up 3s in OT when up, instead of feeding the ball inside? Were their bigs just too good? Braves4Life Yes, WL is being asked to play a position that he's just not equipped to handle but he's also jacking up too many shots.
On a positive side....The D is going to be great and this team is rebounding very very well! I believe Geno will have to go deep into our bench in order to keep the defensive intensity going throughout the season.

Good effort by the Braves last night. Just did not seal the deal. Got to make the free throws of any game we are up in during the last 2 minutes.
In regards to our last turnover...... when I was listening to Dave and Chad last night on radio I heard Chad say "oh no" (or something like that) after a bad pass by Lemon? Later on Dave mentioned something about a ball hitting the underside pads on the backboard. Does anybody know if our pass did indeed hit the underside and deflect to VT which led to their last 2 points of the game? Was this after a rebound or were we in bounding the ball? A lot happened at the end of the game and I was excited and yelling at the radio. I might have missed something said.Comment

Nothing to do with expectations for the season. BUfan was probably just wondering why after such a productive first half Jalen rarely saw the floor in the 2nd half. JP also had a good game but he and Jalen both only played 21 minutes. Didn't see or hear the game, so I'm just wondering also.
