well - one of the huge games down...

Mo's squad goes into North Dakota State and hands them one of the most humiliating losses they've ever had...49-36
he held NDSU to only 36 points in the game - typical mo-ball...to take over sole possession of 1st place

btw- Coach Les' squad took on the 2nd place team in their league and clobbered them 89-65...they have a chance of finishing as high as 2nd or 3rd with a strong finish...kudos

WIU held them to only 14 second half points......congrats to Mo and the team..

might as well get the northern sweep now

Anyone know what kind of recruiting class Mo has coming in for next year? I know he loses a couple of big contributors after this year.

Mo has 3 quality recruits coming in...
a decent juco big man, and high scoring wing player and a PG - they are discussed in this thread

Covington leads Edwardsville at almost 19 ppg

          Stensgaard averages 13/8

Sandifer has quietly become one of the top PG's in the state, and is expected to be able to compete for a starting spot as a freshman
WASHINGTON (AP) - Gun manufacturers have made more than $1 billion from selling AR-15-style guns over the past decade, and for two companies those revenues have tripled over the past three years, acc...

btw - I gotta think at least one Valley school might be looking for a new coach after this season and could consider Mo...
He loves rebuilding WIU but they are not paying him very much - so surely an offer to move up the scale & boost his contract.

I think the situation would have to be right for Mo to go if offered....he wouldn't jump to another school just to move up to a better conference

On to South Dakota St. Saturday who beat WIU at home earlier this year..

WIU will need this one to get the top seed...I'm guessing head to head is first tie breaker..
I noticed all the starters played 35 plus minutes last night too.

btw- just as a recap - WIU hadn't had a winning season since the 90's hadn't much success of any kind ever -

On top of that as soon as Mo got to WIU their top three promising freshmen left (they might have been told to go) and some of them did fairly well elsewhere......
Then their best incoming recruit (Josh Harrellson) bolted and ended up at Kentucky & played for Calipari and also in the NBA!!
...then all his players got multiple injuries - at some points literally playing with all five starters sitting out..but he did it the right way and got quality kids to play in a good system.

Then last year he missed an NCAA Tourey automatic bid by a thread losing a game in OT, and they still got post-season play for the first time in eternity! (in 31 years of D-I play!)

Mo has to be the runaway candidate for Summit Coach of the Year
..one of the Northwestern boards mention Mo as a replacement and I have to wonder if the DePaul folks would like to have him...

BTW - one other rumor regarding Northwestern - DesMoines freshman Kyle Abrahamson of Northwestern has apparently told some of his friends at Iowa State that he's going to be transferring out of Northwestern and coming to play for what has become Transfer U., Iowa State...

With their win over NDSU the other day, WIU wins the tiebreaker against them with their season sweep over them. With a WIU win later today over SDSU, that would split the season series, and would basically give WIU the Summit League title. WIU would have a game in hand over the Dakota schools, with one more win than SDSU and two more wins over NDSU. Also, the Dakota schools would each have just one more conference game left, while WIU would have two left. Bascially a split of WIU's two remaining home games against some very mediocre competition would lock up the Summit League regular season title and insure WIU of no worse than an automatic NIT bid. But first things first. WIU needs the win later today.

WIU cannot overcome poor shooting and are about to go down at SDSU..
Jackrabbits have won 30 straight home games - probably because most visiting teams hate the place

Plus the Summit tournament is virtually home games for them

Well, WIU can still win the Summit outright, but they will have to win their last two home games while they hope SDSU loses their final game on the road. WIU would then finish 13-3 while SDSU finishes 12-4. The best NDSU can finish is 12-4 also.

Seeding wise for the Summit tournament, finishing second instead of first is not that big a deal. But my question is this. Who would get the automatic NIT bid if two or more teams finish tied for first in these smaller conferences? Is it based on RPI, head to head record, or something else?
