  • Comparison Stats from Official Site

These are from the game notes for MVSU:

    For Comparison??™s Sake
It is not difficult to identify the reasons behind Bradley??™s improved play through the first nine games of this season compared to last year:

    Stat Category 2012-13 2011-12
    Games Played 9 32
    Points Per Game 73.1 61.1
    Scoring Defense 63.9 70.5
    Field Goal % .464 .401
    Field Goal % Defense .406 .454
    Rebounds Per Game 35.8 32.9
    Rebound Margin +1.2 -4.2
    Assists Per Game 15.1 10.8
    Turnovers Per Game 11.3 13.7
    Turnover Margin +4.9 -0.7
    Steals Per Game 10.3 6.4
Paint Points Per Game 40.6 25.6
    Paint Points Allowed 23.3 30.9
    Points off Turnovers 19.7 13.2
    Points Allowed off TO??™s 9.9 15.1
    Bench Scoring Margin +5.7 -4.2

That's a huge change in every category vs. last year. Would have been a little more instructive to look at these stats vs. the first 9 games from last year (which were a bit better than the rest of the season)... But that's fantastic progress either way. Keep getting some Ws and Geno is looking like COY material to me.

Thanks for posting this info. The biggest thing my ???Eye Test??? has seen thus far is the better interior D and our points in the paint. It was absolutely sickening to see other teams run layup drills on us last year. I??™m sure the Valley season will mess with this trend, but yajusneverno.

Good info- thanks for posting. There is improvement in virtually all areas except 3-point shooting. It will be interesting to compare later in the season, since this year's sample size is small, and we haven't played some of our better opponents yet. But I think the fact that most of the team's we have played have not had a great size advantage has accounted for some of the improvement in rebounding. But much of it comes from just better team play.

I also see that we are doing a much better job in boxing out. The ball goes up and the guys are looking to body up right away. Rebounding is one part of the game where hard work pays off as compared to skills. The guys are really working hard and as a fan that goes a long way for me.
