I heard the Butler game on a radio station in NW Indiana and they are a PURDUE station so they had little reason to exaggerate for either Butler or IU -
and their take on the Butler-IU game was that Indiana got every break and every call the entire game and OT...
    ..and yet Butler prevailed....

First - Indiana got their two 4&5-Star recruits back from the NCAA suspension for taking money from the agents.. Perea & Jurkin - so they should have even been better & deeper than usual..

Then Butler was said to be getting called on every ticky tack foul - sending the Hoosiers parading to the FT line 38 times!!
And IU was charging in to the lane all the time and then the calls were going the other way - either no-call or AGAINST Butler - causing severe foul trouble on several of Butler's top players.
Their best two fouled out, their backup center was gone by OT and the guy that made the winning shot also had 4 fouls on him.
IU of course had no serious foul trouble and outscored Butler at the FT line 27-11!!!!!!!!!
The Purdue broadcasters made it sound like had the refs been anywhere near reasonably fair Butler wins this one by 15 in regulation!

The Hoosiers do NOT defend well - how come nobody notices this when they're voting them #1 in the nation...?
Remember Butler played Illinois and did NOT score 88 points (they lost 78-61), hit 46% from 3-pt range (they hit just 25%) and they didn't hit 48% from the field (they hit just 36%).

Virginia Tech loses to Georgia Southern - these are two teams we're gonna face soon...

Rhode Island (they were just 2-7) clobbers SMU (who were 8-1) 72-50!! Tough break Jank...

After Eastern Michigan knocks off Purdue - they turn around and lose by 26 to UIC!!

Northern Iowa loses to Iowa 80-73

Drake loses 86-77 to Iowa State - Drake was a pretty good rebounding team - Jordan Clarke is leading the Valley - but they got out-boarded 44-28

Indiana State hurts our RPI & beats IUPUI 75-61

SIU beats Green Bay 72-70 - will the state of Wisconsin be this year's Illinois and have nothing but lousy teams??

Missouri State loses - ..any surprise?

Louisville knocks off Memphis - not an upset but poor Stan Simpson logs under a minute of playing time - tsk, tsk...

Regarding Wisconsin, Marquette will be just fine.

Terrific wins by Butler and Georgia Southern today! Bradley better be ready for GS on Monday night!

Great road win by SIU, but UNI is not showing me anything yet this year. UNI still with a chance for a signature non-conference win at UNLV next week, but it's a must win for UNI as far as their at-large chances are concerned, even with four shots for resume wins against Creighton and Wichita St. coming up.

And UIC looks really good this year! Maybe Northwestern's loss to UIC was not as bad as I thought!

perhaps.....but then you are far more impressed than I am with close wins over teams such as SE Louisiana and
a winning record largely due to scheduling Colgate, Maryland-Baltimore County, Savannah State, and then MSU & USC during historically down years..
The only good team they've played clobbered them by 33 points (82-49)

I have been reading a lot of comments from the IU fans and one thought that comes up over & over is that Tom Crean went repeatedly with freshman Yogi Farrell while Roosevelt Jones was eating Farrell alive...
..and a whole lot of IU fans think Remy Abel deserved to be in there and that IU would have won had Abell been used....
Abell didn't have a great offensive game but Farrell had 6 turnovers and his weak defense of Jones (16 pts, 12 rebs, 7 asst), then on Barlow who nailed the winning basket - cost them severely

Not exactly sure where you are reading this but it is incorrect. Ferrell is a 5'10" pg and Jones is a 6'6" forward and they were never guarding each other. Also it was Hulls on Barlow when he hit the shot that won the game. Remy was in the game at this time guarding another player. Hulls got beat multiple times off the dribble in that game not Ferrell. It was pretty obvious what happened. Crean got outcoached by Stevens, and Butler out toughed IU.

Not to question you on this, but where are you reading this? Most if the message board chatter I've read in the past 24 hours has focused on Hulls and his ineffective defense. The only chatter I've seen about Remy questioned why he was in the game in the waning minutes with the thought that he isnt ready for those situations. And after he missed that FT, which could have been the difference in the game, there were about 10 simultaneous "bench him" posts.

Remy is an adequate player who had some nice numbers against some bad teams, but i would be surprised if he ever becomes more than a multiposition role player who can come off the bench and give 15 good mins.

I didn't say anything about being impressed by Marquette's wins, or who they scheduled. All I said is that they'll be fine. How presumptive of you.

This is funny how the 2 perspectives differ so greatly.

Yeah, differing opinions and consensus can be found depending on what audience/message board/website you are talking about. For example, on one of the Iowa boards, people are melting down over everything that is happening to the football program and most posters want the whole coaching staff fired. The other board is much more level headed and want change but not in the same, sweeping manner as the other board.

T and I were probably looking two different places and found two completely differing opinions.
