Looking ahead to the rest of our schedule, I see us staying above .500 as long as we win our B'Busters game.
We need to win 2/3 vs. UE, UNI, ISU-blue. Another road win would be a bonus.
None of the remaining home games will be easy, but the way we've protected our home court, winning all 3 is possible.

My hope for this team is to finish 8-10 in conference and for Walt to out-perform Odum and beat Indy blue.

        looking back is also interesting...

let's say thru some amazing streak of play - we run the table and go 13-5 in the Valley and our RPI actually creeps up enough (maybe 40's) to start getting a little at-large talk...

Then wouldn't our schedule in November & December be the deal-breaker - it looked strong on paper - Michigan and a chance to play tough teams in Vegas...??
In the end only Michigan is a quality team..........nobody else we played is doing anything! This has our SOS down around 200 now.

-The several home wins we had (EIU, UTPA, UT-Martin, MVSU..) are now all 300 RPI and worse...

-Even the scarce road wins we had (IUPUI, CMU) - those teams are showing themselves to be horrible.
IUPUI is now 4-18, and just 1-9 in a really weak conference, CMU likewise looking like a bottom dweller in their conference...

-and I know you don't get a lot of style points for losses - but when we lost to USF - we heard how good of a team they were...but......
Even they are now 1-7 in the Big East - dead last & worse even than the perennial bottom dwellers there..
and you don't want to know how bad Portland is - but we lost on a neutral court to a team that's now just 1-6 in the WCC

-even Virginia Tech - who were said to be the best we've done against a top team - hanging in there & losing by just one to them...
they are now the worst RPI in the ACC and at the bottom of that league!

          • Consistent Team Leadership from someone from the starting 5 (something sorely lacking in previous seasons)
          • Continued improvement from at least one underclassmen

Given these, which I think are within the realm of possibility, I vote BU stays above 0.500.....
I think we hit 3 of the 4, AZ. Still haven't seen continued improvement in any of our underclassmen, but Bell is getting good minutes lately and will help us in the future seasons.

We have the worst strength of schedule in the league.

Not all .500 records are created equal...

if we can finish above .500 we can get some experience playing in a post-season tournament - something that will help our guys...

so if we win 1 of our final 2 con games... we will have 17 wins

                win 1 game in STL - 18

A post season tourney would put us dangerously close to a 20 win season..........what would we all say then about out success?

20 wins is better than 19 but are we allowed to count those wins already??

During the JL era, 20 wins as a result of a C or D tier tournament was lauded on this board as an epic accomplishment. Now it's only better than 19 wins.

It is time to support Geno on this board!

I see universal support for Geno - have you seen someone even hinting he should be fired?

No, but he also has not been given 9 years to turn things around either.
