  • Lee Academy disciplined for violations

Lee Academy in Maine has both a regular varsity team and a prep school team -

Bradley recruit Stefan Zecevic is a student at Lee and plays basketball for their prep team.

but they have been cited by the Maine High School governing authorities for recruiting violations...

AUGUSTA, Maine — Lee Academy has been placed on probation for two years by the Maine Principals’ Association for violations of that organization’s

"Private schools that are MPA members can offer financial aid based on need, but not based on athletic talent.

The violations fall under the MPA bylaws entitled "Inducements for Athletic Purposes" which include about a dozen points. A school cannot offer anything to a student-athlete it doesn't offer to all students.

Lee seems to be struggling lately to get any press coverage but there are a few reports...they competed this past week in the Hoop Mountain Prep Classic and won
    3 games to go 3-0....

Here's a report on their Sunday game....
Phoenixville (PA) Mont Clare Academy 79-66 ..and here's the notes from the game...

"In the opening game of the day, Lee Academy got a balanced attack en route to their win.
Charles Foster (5’11″ Sr. PG, Louisville (KY)), a plus athlete, led the way with 19 points,
while Rashad Andrews (6’4″ Sr. SF, Jamaica (NY)), who has a good body and showed a little range
on his jumper, added 13 and Vermont signee Kiefer Douse (6’1″ Sr. SG, Brampton (Ont.)),
who has some length and will need to add strength, added 11."

no mention of BU recruit Stefan Zecevic...

    also one other report...

Lee Academy 79 Mont Clare 66

Coming off their run-away victory on Saturday morning, Lee Academy completed their perfect weekend with another convincing win,
this time coming against Mont Clare. Charles Foster continued to lead the way offensively, turning in his third consecutive strong
offensive outing with 19 points. Vermont bound point guard Kiefer Douse contributed 11 of his own while Rashad Andrews and
Felipe Teixeira slashed their way to 13 and 11 points respectively."

    But here's a puzzle........
.. not one Lee player was named to the 15-man All Tourney team

    "First Team

G Rene Castro - Worcester Academy
G Kaleb Joseph - Cushing Academy
F Wayne Selden - Tilton Academy
F Noah Vonleh - New Hampton Prep
F Andrew Chrabascz - Cushing Academy

    Second Team

G Charles Foster - Lee Academy
G Travis Jorgenson - New Hampton Prep
G Daquein McNeil - Vermont Academy
    F Bonzie Colson - St. Andrew's
F Chris McCullough - Brewster Academy

    Third Team

yeah - sorry - I missed Foster - but I expected to see someone from Lee on the 1st team...
Zecevic isn't getting any mention - but I have seen at least some comments that he is playing

Lee Academy's varsity team (different from their prep team) also seems to have some issues..
one of their players has left the team, their 6-8 center broke a wrist and is out for the season- then two starters including their very best player are now sitting out for disciplinary reasons.
BANGOR, Maine —Defense was the difference during Wednesday’s Eastern Maine Class C boys quarterfinals at the Bangor Auditorium. Dexter slowed Lee Academy
