Some followup..........
.. "6ft-8in" transsexual basketball player Gabrielle Ludwig made her debut and became ...
the FIRST person in all of history to play college basketball as BOTH a man and a woman!!!!
"With 7:59 left in the first half, Ludwig checked into the game"
..."I think it's great. It revolutionizes sports a little bit to open-mindedness," Thompson said."
Girlfriend Maryann Pondevida, 42, of La Palma, said Ludwig has rights like all the other players.
"If she's cleared to play, what's the problem?"
Three rows down in the stands, Ray Galli, 58, of Folsom, watched the game with a friend whose daughter played on the opposing team.
"It ain't right," Galli said. "For one, she's 50 years old, and No. 2 ... come on, these girls out here are young. Start your own league if you want to do that."
In about seven minutes of action that night, Ludwig made three free throws, while missing all five shots from the field.
A foot above than the tallest competitor, she grabbed three rebounds in her team's 69-62 loss.
"I think at 6-foot-8, if she does some work," Cafferata said, "I don't see why the WNBA wouldn't draft her and give her a shot."
There is no requirement, a league spokesman said, for a WNBA player to be born female.
While Gabrielle Ludwig's California junior college association uses a birth certificate as the determining factor of gender for athletic eligibility, the NCAA loosened its requirements in August 2011."

OK - I was going to leave this story alone but then this new article...
and I guess the part that irks me is when the coach equates what this 50 year-old man who chooses to have surgery and then act like a woman is doing and compares it to the player on his team that plays while DEAF or the players who have learning disabilities...
"Gabrielle has earned a spot on this team...she is no different from anyone on the team..."
and also decribes Ludwig as an "underdog"..
..."he (the coach) is a champion of the underdogs - his roster includes a player who is deaf and others with learning disabilities.."
..so is he saying that what he/she has done to herself surgically and with hormone manipulation is a disability? How can he compare a healthy man who wants to alter his body to someone who is born with a disability they didn't choose to have?

sure- but "she" also has an advantage - she had a guy's 6-6 inch frame and has played college basketball before..
how many 50 year old men do you think would or could play basketball every bit as well as an average juco women?
Some will say none or few, but I believe it is a pretty good pct...and there's some proof to back it up - such as historical examples of college women who lack any better options so they scrimmage against a group of guys from the "Y" or an army base - some of whom are way older - even out of shape, and the guy can still easily hold their own.
This 50 year old would be juco player of the year if they allowed him to play..

and if the guy goes thru this alteration and chemical manipulation without knowing that he's gonna look like a freak....tattooed, looking and acting masculine, it would be as if I buffaloed some little league into letting me play then wondering why the fans and parents of the other team are a bit surprised or think it's just a bit odd.....

Gabielle Ludwig ended up averaging 7.1 ppg and 6.8 rpg - numbers that are surprisingly low considering she's a full foot taller than most opponents..
She supposedly still has a year of eligibility left and can return next year.
But in 1980 Ludwig played a year of junior college basketball in New York as a male - so wouldn't her eligibility for juco be exhausted?
