that is a very sad story yet has a silver lining...
because we all know that up 'til a decade or so ago - had this happened - he probably would have died...

but thanks to efforts of a few to staff all sports programs with people who can do CPR, and to equip every game & practice facility with a defibrillator and train people on it's use - lives like Danny's are being saved...

He might never play ball again - that has to be determined as it was in Taylor Brown's situation...but at least he is alive and has a chance thanks to people like Hank Gathers & Nick Knapp...
(btw - Nick Knapp's dad, Terry, is in the news - see the thread on District 150)

Utah State (one of the teams SIU just faced in their tourney) keeps losing players - they even had to....
"pull the redshirt off" one kid recently - Quincy Bair -- (kinda like we did with Jake Eastman his freshman year)
..and then just as soon as the kid gets into a few games coming off his plans to redshirt, he quits the team!
They are now down to just 7 healthy scholarship players...and yet they aren't "using injuries as an excuse" - they are 9-1!!
They only have one senior on the roster and their starting PG is a true freshman...
