  • Indulge my scheduling request!

Bradley, Bobby Parker, Anyone who reads this forum with the power to make this happen. I would like a Home and Home with Tulane University.

This request makes sense on a lot of levels, both programs are really trying to grow into/back into bigger and better things. Tulane is a new member of the Big East (Or the new Big East, which is the old C-USA, but I digress) and would benefit from some strong mid-major competition. Bradley is re-bulding into the powerhouse that we were in years past.

Both are good academic schools, and I can assure you that an away game in New Orleans with Yours Truly as a gracious host would be an event to remeber. Tulane has a newly renovated cozy little arena, and it's a heck of a place to see a game.

While initially the students might not be impressed by this series, let me enlighten THEM to some of the benefits of a road game to NOLA.

    1. I have yet to see a drinking ticket be handed out anywhere
    2. Bourbon Street
    3. Best food in America
    4. Bourbon Street
    5. Nationally Ranked Party School
    6. SEC caliber Women (Trust me that this is the highest caliber)

Now, for the older folks with wives and kids.

    1. History
    2. Beautiful Architecture
    3. Wonderful Weather
    4. Best food in America
    5. Best food in America
    6. Best food in America

Now, BU athletics what can you expect?

    1. Budding rivalry with a great academic institution with BEAST ties
    2. A fun road game to prepare for every year
    3. A very happy George Wright

Now, if you could promptly comply with this request I would be most appreciative, thanks in advance,

    George

Since you are putting in a request I might as well put one in. How about scheduling with one of the SF Bay area schools. There's plenty to chose from. Santa Clara, USF, St Mary's in the WCC and or one of the PAC 12 schools either Stanford or Cal. Creighton plays Cal December 15th, so it is doable.

As a matter of fact on the food subject I'd have to say we have the best food in America along with all that wine.

We almost scheduled a game with St Mary's a few years ago but the schedules did not work out. I'll be glad to make a few calls on BU's behalf to see if we can squeeze in a game.

I've seen worse ideas, but I'd really be nervous about Tulane going Full DePaul in the Big East.

I wouldn't mind dueling home-and-homes with a southern team (Tulane) and a western team (pick your favorite WCC team here). BB return game, non-con tourney, and that leaves 6 remaining non-con games to build in a couple power conference opponents, a couple local, and a couple east coast. Trims out the cupcakes.

Interesting - I wonder if anyone at Tulane remembers the last time we hosted Tulane here in Peoria....
it was actually the final Division I opponent Bradley ever faced in the old Fieldhouse and we clobbered them (77-61) in the 1982 NIT to earn a trip to New York!

I remember that game. It was so loud in the Fieldhouse. The Tulane coach called a timeout and complained that his players could not hear him talk. Between the raised floor and the crowd noise, we really had a home court advantage.

My request... I'd like to see Anthony Fields get a chance to extract his "revenge" on Wake Forest in front of his former QEA coach and friends in Winston-Salem.

I'm aiming low... how about at least one game in Chicago every year? There is plenty to choose from - Loyola, DePaul, UIC, NIU, Northwestern, etc.
Don't putt until the cup stops movin'

an absolute necessity -- we have to get going and gain a BETTER standing
and name-recognition in Chicago and the surrounding areas!

Maybe Chin can help with this... He's helped with everything else that has to do with Chicago. Right?

I think we play at Loyola next year as the return Bracketbuster game from last season. I'd prefer NW as a yearly game as they are the only halfway decent team around here.

If not, I have always advocated scheduling solid mid-major teams each year. Nothing wrong with going after a George Mason, VCU type of team each year.

And I know Les was not too high on this, but I wouldn't be against an two-for-one series against a high end BCS team every so often.
