  • What's Next?

Following a tough-fought loss at home to a top 5 team, where is BU heading?

There is certainly reason for increased hope, however we all know how tough the MVC is going to be this season.

    So, what's next?

I am hopeful that our talent and increased depth will hold up over the conference grind. However, we know its not enough to just play hard. You have to make plays. You have to defend inside and out. You have to do it every night.

I think we are heading in the direction we want. Now we have to keep it up over the long haul.

    Go Braves!

just don't let George Washington be a trap game and take it lightly..
GWU has made only 15 3-pointers all year - they pound it into the paint or screen & drive
they've taken only an average of 7 3-pt attempts per game over the last 3 games..

Sounds like a game we need to be careful with foul trouble by WE,TP, JP.

I like GF's system and with a few more good recruits anything is possible. We need a shooter, hopefully Fields is our answer at PG and another big to replace WE would be sweet.

This year if we play hard, limit TOs and keep WE out of foul trouble we should do fine. WE's game to me has been the most surprising on the upside.

It's nice to see you and Beninator getting back on board SFP.

I will give GF 4 years to make a real difference. I've always been consistent. I knew last year would be ugly and I'm just hoping that this year's team plays better every game win or lose. I'm starting to see a pretty good system developing and hopefully GF will get some recruits that can make his system shine.

I realize that I was very harsh on Geno and the staff last year. I liked a lot of things I saw during the Michigan game so it is only fair to praise what I have seen. I also like some of the players Geno has recruited so far. It isn't fair for me to comment further on Geno's system based on this year, as I have only seen us play once.

So back to the What's next topic.

I would like (hope) to see Shayok develop if for anything else, this would give us a deeper bench. We also need to IMO address the PG position to distribute the ball better.

Its time for the Braves to stomp GWU to finish strong going into finals week. Let's get the same effort we showed against UMich and it should be a nice 6-2 start. After that, its 2 more weak opponents before Va Tech. Although I am curious about Miss Valley State, they've played some big schools and haven't faired well (Miss, Cinci, NW, LSU).

Our SOS is horrible, and these next few games won't help either. I hope GF and Dr Cross get some more meat on the schedule in the coming years.

I'm sure that when our SOS matters again, it will be taken into consideration.

I agree. A coach needs to build a schedule around what they believe is best for the team. Playing a tough schedule with this team would not be in their best interest.

Your right it doesn't make sense to worry about our SOS until we bring in players that can compete. After watching last Sats. game it doesn't appear to be that far off. We are off to a pretty good recruiting class. If we can bring in 2 or 3 people who can contribute right away, than next year we should start to improve our SOS. One more thing, we need to start bringing in people who can help us from day one NOT year 4. That's the only way we're going to compete with the WSU's and Creighton's .I have faith Geno's gonna get that done. Please don't take that as a slam against Jim because Mo did the same thing.

The problem is that both those tasks are long lead time items, by the time we know we have a team that can compete, a good portion of our schedule is going to be set... I would rather play a solid schedule year in and year out, sometimes meaning we have less pointless wins, then get caught with a good team without the resume to justify a potential NCAA bid... I think this year HAD to be an exception given our horrible season last year and the need to get this team with a winning mentality. It's strange that we've only had 1 game that we needed to close out in the final few minutes, which was at IUPUI. Other than that, our wins have been by a wide margin.
I thought we'd have closer games in the non-conf. which would help us close out games better.
We may be in for a closer one tonight. A little worried - hope we can knock down some treys! I think DSE will come ready to play and get close to 20 with 3 or 4 made 3-pointers.

I agree its long lead times on home games, but exempt tourneys, road games are not as hard.

I think the schedule is about right. I would have suspected GW to be a little better...
