Big Mike, I respects your posts here but I want Lemon on the court just not at the point. Am I off base with my Fields comment?

Keep in mind these top tier teams do not usually play away games in November/December, so this is kind of uncharted territory for Michigan. Lets see what happens!

Did not attend the game today for a couple of reasons, one being the ticket policy that made it difficult for the people I was planning on coming with to buy the tickets, plus other things came up anyway that would have made it impossible for me to come. That said, I did catch the last few minutes of the game, and Bradley really represented the Valley and their fan base proud today! I did not expect Bradley to win, but to give Michigan all they could handle shows the great effort Bradley played with today (and with one exception the whole season so far).
As was mentioned on another thread, Bradley had the worst Valley SOS going into this weekend at something like 270. Not only will that go up nicely today, they have shown that against the easier competition they have beaten the teams they should beat, and beaten them handily as well, something they could not do last year (remember the Loyola game anyone?!). So just because their schedule is easier this year, they had to prove they could beat the teams should by a sizable margin, which they have done. This leads me to believe that they may win more games this year than many have been expecting, and may even flirt with an "EIEIO" tournament. I know that's what most people don't want to hear, but after the last few seasons, I certainly would take that this year. I don't know if we would take a huge step up next year with the loss of some key players, but we should still be at least this competitive next year. I know it's a little early this year, but we still should win more games even if we trip up once in awhile. But we definitely will be more competitive.
I still may try to make it down for a game this year. If not though, I will definitely attend the Loyola game when Bradley comes up here next year as I believe that will be on their schedule as their return Bracketbuster game from last year.

PS....I remember hearing that MK can hit 15 threes in a row in practice( freshman year....lights-out shooter) but has not done anything like that in the games....trying to hold down the hype on my end!

Michigan has a solid starting lineup, though not especially big or tall for a Big Ten team. I was not real impressed with their bench players- they accounted for a total of 4 points. And despite a talented team full of veteran players, their freshman Nik Stauskas won the game for them. He is a terrific shooter, and can drive and score at the basket, too. It will be interesting to see how they match up against some of the bigger Big Ten teams. IMO, their lack of size, and a bench that is not very deep will hurt them.
And kudos to the BU students who showed up in big numbers today. Because they filled the visiting end zone, and overflowed into the higher levels, it was hard to tell how many were there. But I estimated 600 or more. Let's hope they all return for the next home game!

Michigan definitey has some shooters and while not real strong inside their perimeter players are real long and the all seem to shoot well.
I hadn't noticed the bench only had 4....must have been all Max for those...
Seemed like they kept running guys in...

Just a few points. For various reasons, this is regrettably the first game I have seen this season so some of these opinions I am sure are not new to people whom are regular posters.
I think that the coaching staff had a very good game plan for this game. Well done!
The fourth foul on Will was a terrible call!
Coming into this game, Stauskas was a player whom I thought would give us fits. I was even more impressed with him in person!
My impression has always been that Max Bielfeldt is a mid-major player. Today reinforced that!
I hope that Fields is as good as some people say. Otherwise, we need a JUCO point guard for next year!
I am not one for moral victories, but we are an incomplete team that competed very well with a team with a lot of talent. We gave it all and have nothing to be ashamed of. This is a game we can build on. We have a long way to go, but I liked a lot of things I saw today!Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I couldn't be more proud of the way our guys battled and played today against extremely long odds. If we can play with this kind of heart, passion, and team unity we will surprise a lot of people this year. After today's game, and after our last game against CMU, I am more confident than ever that Geno was the right man for this job. I feel certain that he will restore the winning and enthusiasm that existed at BU when I was a student in the '80's. Go Braves!
