Maybe happy that they lost because they can't defend anyone, but not happy they lost since this badly hurts the Valley's reputation in the eye of the pundits. They are just looking for any excuse to keep mid-major's out of the same conversation with the "big boys". And while this may not necessarily keep Creighton out of the NCAA Tournament, it does hurt their seeding, and it makes the Valley look worse. This was about as classic a trap game as you will ever see!

a lot of people were fooled for while but I think they will now see after Creighton loses at home by 13 to Boise State, that Creighton is not currently a Top 20 team..

btw Derrick Marks - a kid who considered Bradley - went 13-19 and scored 35 points

Well, I'm glad a Valley team got this much press going into the season, and I would still for now consider them a top 25 team. But teams ranked this high, and even ranked at the bottom of the top 25 don't lose games like this at home. Obviously Creighton felt after their impressive weekend showing against the BCS that they could win any game with their soft defense, but that obviously doesn't always happen. And I also think they were looking ahead to their games against St. Joseph's and Nebraska.

Or maybe they thought this was the Boise State football team (consistently ranked) and that it would be acceptable to lose to them at home.

Let's just say the trap was set and they stepped right into it!

Derrick Marks was a great player at Plainfield HS, and Jim Les really liked his game. He was also recruited by ISU and SIU. But FWIH, when Bradley tried to offer him in the summer before his senior year, he said no thanks, as he was expecting to play at a higher level school. But then he suddenly committed to Boise State just before his senior season started. BSU head Coach Leon Rice must have done a good job of recruiting, because it's hard to attract players to play basketball at Boise State.
Boise State is one of the few D1 schools that does not have any minorities on the coaching staff, which can make it a bit more difficult to recruit in places like the Chicago area.

Dammit Creighton you can't do this and get a protected seed in March.

Given the circumstances easily the worst loss for the Valley this season (obviously other opponents are worse than Boise but still)

both Creighton & Wichita State were 6-0 going into last night - but both had way bad SOS's...
in fact Wichita's SOS was almost 250 !!
...there's still about ten conferences whose RPI's and SOS are better..and the bottom of the Valley is really weak...

what's with UNI -- everyone was talking them as one of the top 3-4 teams in the Valley but their RPI and SOS are both near 300!

I disagree. I think the league from top to bottom is stronger.

Just look at SIU & BU compared to last year.

Drake and Evansville are better than their results indicate.

Wichita St. and UNI have reversed roles, as many thought the Shox would struggle early with their newcomers, and though they haven't been greatly tested, they have shown what they're capable of.

We have a shot at 3 NCAA tournament teams. UNI will have to fight their way back and play well in the Valley to have any consideration.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Valley at #8 in conf. RPI for most of the season, which is not so mediocre. You should question the validity of the RPI this early in the season.

                  Tulsa (4-2) @ Wichita State (6-0), 7:00pm CT..
Gambling problems at Tulsa - their AD placed on leave - evidence he's gambling thousands of dollars with an illegal bookie....
If it's extremely unethical for a player or coach to be gambling then surely the same ethical rules apply to the AD.
Tulsa athletic director Ross Parmley was placed on paid leave Tuesday as the university investigates allegations that he may have been involved with an alleged bookie in Oklahoma City.

And this after Doug Wojcik was fired this past year. At least Wojcik is having a decent year at Charleston this year, already with wins against Baylor and Boston College. Although Louisville finally woke up after their two Valley close calls and tore Charleston apart 80-38 last night!

Sounds like Tulsa has hit rock bottom after their glory days of the 90's!
