  • How good are we?

I've been passively following the team this year, and am optimistic we should be on the rise this year. I'm curious where you BF.com die-hards assess our team right now. This is probably too many questions for one post, but I'd like to get it all out there.

So, now that we're 3-1 over some lowly competition, can I expect us to be better than the 9th or 10th place finish in the Valley or will the predictions hold true (barring any injuries to BU)?

On the stat sheet, it looks like TP can really play. Is he the main reason JP is only seeing 19min/game this year? Has GF put TP, WE, and JP on the court at the same time yet?

It also looks like GF is only going about 7 deep (DSE, WL, JE, WE, TP, JP, JC). Is SS injured or in the dog house?

Do we have a true point guard?

Any promising signs from our young guys?

SS is still coming along, healing up yes and he is one of the promissing young guys along w/ Wells who we havnt seen much of, a shooter will be a freshman next season from serbia i think, WE is off to a great start DSE has been up and down but will be solid!, WL still trying to do to much somtimes but is a stud, Bell will be a true point next season if not before, TP is the reason for JP lowered minutes but JP has been pretty productive along w/ JE, TP is good at the line, good around the basket, rebounder, nice mid range, has a real chance at newcomer of the yr and I do not think we will finish 9th or 10th! and a great passer! Jalen Crawford is a huge x factor or maybe somone most have never heard of lol lets not name names yet hahahaha

we still have quite an uphill battle given what we were saddled with....
we're still tied for 1st place in the Valley with 9 other teams so we're not out of it yet - but most would agree were not in the same ballpark as the team at the top of the Valley......
Unlike those who think we are "light years better" than we were 1-2 years ago or are 15 points better that last year's team - I still see some lack of consistency & remain HOPEFUL yet unconvinced that we can make it to the upper half of the Valley...

SS concerns me. The UTPA game is the only game he's scored from the field, and he has not had a single rebound in his last 3 games. I understand the injury he had, but he has not looked good in the limited time he has played. I think the coaches are beginning to become a bit concerned, because we need him to have bench depth as we get into tougher games.

I think BU still plays Thursday this year, but unlike last year I feel we at least have a chance to win every conference game we play sans CU and WSU. We are actually blowing out teams we should crush which we didn't do the last 3 or so years. Thus I would consider us much improved and I personally am very optimistic looking towards next year.

This team is a little better than last year, but has poor outside shooters. I predict Bradley will finish no better than 8 in the conference. If there is an injury to a starter, we will likely finish 9 or 10. I wish the rebuilding was like the Versace era, when Bradley went from last to first in one year. I think it will be at least two more years before this program can be in the top of the Valley.

IMO, the Braves will be playing on Thursday again. TP has been a 1 game wonder. JP for his size is unproductive and disappointing. Looks like SS hasn't recovered from his injury yet, so it's hard to tell how positive be will be. No we don't have a true point guard when JL is at that spot. He's a slasher and doesn't miss too many driving layups whereas our bigger guys have trouble just laying them in. DSE was better as a freshman. All this is just my opinion and I hope it comes back to bite me in the rear.

Was that the EIU game where he had 23 and 8, the IUPUI game where he had 18 and 10, or the UTM game where he had 7 boards and just one turnover in 26 minutes?

I agree that DSE seems to have seen better days. I was hoping he would be 2nd team last year and 1st team this season, but he's just really struggling.
We have seen though, that once he finds his scoring groove, he can turn it on, so I'm hopeful of that - still early in the season.

I'm not as pessimistic as Chico, but his assessment of indiv. players is pretty much on. One thing that I am very pleased with is that we don't seem concerned about stats, but wins this year. We are scrappy, and the last game was about as ugly as you can get, but we still managed to win with ease. I guess with more team unity and less breakdowns on defense (along with fewer easy buckets surrendered in the lane), we WOULD likely beat the 2011-12 team by 15 every game.

Eastman has been the biggest surprise in my eyes and Snell hit it on the head that he has been our MVP so far. So happy for him as he's been put in tough situations in his BU career. I think TP is the 2nd biggest factor in our success, though last game was terrible for him, but he'll bounce back.

Sorry, a 2 game wonder who needs to score inside more.

Sorry, I meant WL. JL was a true point guard who did everything a point guard was supposed to do.

Though we have had a degree of senior leadership in the past few years, I think this season we are seeing it much more.

Couldn't be much happier with how Will and Jake are playing, and DSE seems to be more vocal on the court. Also, when DSE is struggling, he is doing the intangibles to get back on track and help the team.

Though we may have expected more from our seniors since they arrived on the Hilltop, I will be sad to see them go, and their attitude has been awesome through it all.
Would be nice to send them off with twice as many wins as last season, which is quite possible.
