I think the coaches are beginning to become a bit concerned, because we need him to have bench depth as we get into tougher games.

I think I was one of the few people that was not impressed with him last season. I'm even less impressed this season.

I guess after the first game against mighty Eastern Illinois I thought he was the next coming of Chet Walker, or maybe I was reading the posts wrong. As I said in my first post, this is just my opinion to BUBALUM's questions and I hope they come back to bite me in the rear.

He's a slasher and doesn't miss too many driving layups whereas our bigger guys have trouble just laying them in. DSE was better as a freshman. All this is just my opinion and I hope it comes back to bite me in the rear.

              The team is definitely better then last season because they play more like a team then individuals;
Egolf is a good player and just needs to stay out of foul trouble.
Pickett is a good player that can score and rebound and also needs to stay out of foul trouble.
Eastman has been terrific as he finally gets to play his natural position.
DSE is having trouble making outside shots and hoping that changes once he gets his confidence back by making a few.
Walt is Walt in that if you give him an opening he will take the ball in and score, think he is playing better at the point as his passing has improved.
Prosser has contributed decently off the bench but I just wish he could finish better as he has missed way too many close in shots.
Crawford has improved yet he is not a consistent outside shooter.
SS. looks lost and even though he missed 3 weeks of practice he should at the least be able to rebound yet he doesn"t, he has the size to be a force inside but not sure about his overall desire and toughness.

This team has an outside chance to finish 6th if they can make shots as the defense is better and after the top 4 teams in the Valley the bottom 6 are average.

My opinion has not changed at all. I believe we'll struggle because we do not have a true 5 and our shooting is horrendous. We should be improved because we are in the 2nd year of GF's system and hopefully the guys are grasping it. My two biggest surprises are JE and what he's giving to the team and 2nd we could not find a true PG to run this team. I predict we will not finish last but will play on on Thursday. Right now we have a bunch of pretty good role players but not one who would be starting on any of the top Valley teams.

Geno found a true PG, unfortunately, he can't play this year.

I actually disagree. WE could be starting for some of the top tier Valley teams as well as TP.

Don't think either would start on any top tier team in the Valley. We haven't seen enough of TP, but our so called bigs just aren't physical enough. Too many missed bunnies.

Egolf is an improvement from last year, though I agree he would be a 4 ideally.

Lemon is a 2 guard playing out of position out of necessity, and I think he is better than he was last year.

JE is a lot better this year because he is playing more in his skill set, and not at the 4.

I think Pickett (12 pts, 7 reb) is providing pretty close to the scoring and rebounding that came from Taylor Brown (14.8 pts, 6.4 reb) last year.

I think that if SS catches up, he will provide much more than AT did last year.

I think this years team is a lot better than last years.

So what you're saying we have one of the best front courts in the Valley?

I guess it sounded like that but that's not what I meant. I just think WE has really shown a lot this year and could start at the 4 for a number of teams in the Valley.

I have not seen us play that much so far this year, (that will change) but my initial impression is similar to yours.

I like the improvement that our team and several players appear to have made thus far compared to last season. I am, however, concerned about Shayok as well. Without him we will be doomed to finish near the bottom of the Valley again, IMO. We need him for depth once the Valley season cranks up. I know Geno is making excuses for Shayok with his injury and lost practice time but it really looks like more than that to me. He appears to be an athlete (see S. Jassey) that really has no clue about fundamentals and the flow of the game... I really hope I'm wrong.
