That's a great point! Sometimes we get hung up too much on how many BCS teams we beat, myself included. Obviously the VCU and Drexel wins will be more significant than the Iowa/DePaul wins. But there are always a few stupid pundits who insist a win is not a quality win unless the team comes from a BCS conference. But most pundits with an ounce of common sense will agree that the VCU and Drexel wins will most likely be NCAA Tournament type wins when all is said and done.

I don't know what to say about DePaul. It's just not happening for them as illustrated by that ghastly home loss to Gardner Webb! Ouch! I like Oliver Purnell as a coach, but he should be getting more out of the quality talent he has recruited by now. Maybe still only an NIT caliber team this year, but by now they have no business losing games like this. That's why I would still consider them a bottom feeder Valley team if they were in our conference.

after Friday the Valley's non-conference record I believe looks like this:

      Overall: 34-11
      vs. D-I: 28-11
vs. DII, DII, & NAIA: 6-0
vs. BCS/power conference schools: 3-7 (wins over DePaul, Iowa, Wisconsin. Losses to USF, Cal, Notre Dame, UCLA, SDSU, Louisville, Stanford)

Your inclusion of San Diego State is based on the fact that next year they will be in the Big East, right? This year of course they are part of the Mountain West.

I think he said BCS/power conference schools. So that would probably include at least the MWC and the A10.

I also have to recant what I said last night regarding Drexel. They are off to a terrible 1-4 start, so they are going to have to feast on CAA competition in order to make the tournament. They were the CAA favorites going into this season, and with VCU gone and ODU stumbling a bit, it might make their job a little easier. But right now, not as good of a win as we thought it would be.

Yeah - and because they were ranked #25 and because MWC still qualifies as BCS

            Overall: 35-12
            vs. D-I: 29-12
vs. DII, DII, & NAIA: 6-0
            vs. BCS/power conference schools: 3-8

Your certainly allowed to include anyone your want.

If you want to get technical, the BCS is made up of 11 conferences (ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Conference USA, MAC, MWC, PAC 12, SEC, Sun Belt and WAC.)

But I think most people consider the BCS to be the 6 conferences that get Auto Qualification for BCS Bowl games. Those 6 conferences are the ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and PAC 12

I agree. The BCS is theoretically only those 6 (and maybe soon to be 4) conferences that earn the BCS bowl autobids. But what may be considered BCS in football would not be considered that in basketball. The Atlantic 10 and MWC would certainly be considered BCS "light" in basketball, but the A-10 doesn't even exist in FBS football. I would call them high-major conferences outside the BCS. But like I said in my previous post, tornado did say "BCS/power conferences" when he prefaced his posts. So I assume he is counting teams like Xavier and UNLV as power teams.

It's all semantics, but if you put a Mountain West team on there, put the A-10 team (VCU) on there too.

UNI concerns me. They should've picked off a game in that tournament - they were underdogs in each, but you gotta snap one off.

Concerned about Drexel holding up too. The good news is that none of their 4 losses (@Kent, ISU, N-Xavier, N-St Mary's) are nowhere near bad losses. I still think they're going to truck through the CAA.
