I agree that if our walk-ons are playing ahead of our starters then that is probably not a good sign. Geno and the Braves obviously still have a ways to go before restoring the glory to our once proud program.

Another win for the team today. First half was brutal, but at least they guarded.

2nd half was huge, points-wise. You have to like winning when your main guys don't score much.

Great job to get a lot of guys in and take down a win.

This program is still miles away from what they want to be, but there are some good signs popping up. We still need consistent scoring. But, I think the D and rebounding have gotten better.

I would still like to see more movement on O.

        Go BU!

There are occasions when a walk-on playing only means he turned out to be a lot better of a player than people thought. Drake had pretty good success with a fella named Adam Emmenecker not so long ago remember.

Not saying that kind of thing will happen with Gavin, just food for thought.

True, but no matter the regime, if a walk-on turns out to be surprisingly good, that's a credit to the coaching staff for allowing him on the team in the first place. If the walk-on plays better than one or more of the veterans, there's no harm in giving him more playing time if it results in more wins.

You are correct. Maybe he can turn out like Zobrist.

Walt Lemon Jr. and DSE 0-6 from three and some of the misses were absolutely horrific....very indicitive of this team's perimeter performances over the recent past. The defense of choice against us will be zone and more zone. The playing time that Gavin is getting is a desperate try to get meaningful minutes for someone...anyone....who can shoot. The glass is half full right now, though. We're 4-1 and getting better than expected play from TP, JE and arguably WE. Should be competitive all season.

Last year we played walk ons because they were better then what we could put on the floor. Gavin may be in the same situation, not sure yet but I like what I see from him over two other possibilities if you know what I mean. And one is not Wells . I hope Gavin turns into a useable commodity. I remember a walkon who turned out pretty dog gone good by the name of Roger Phegely.

DA started out as a WO, and he turned out pretty good!

The most glaring concern with this team is a clear lack of perimeter shooting. This lack of perimeter shooting could open opportunity for a kid like Gavin if he can be a zone buster.

The other issue was the lack of movement by the bigs for nearly the entire first half. Good adjustments were made in the second half, as the post players became more active. That high post flash, or movement to the short corner, opens opportunity for the guards to make basket cuts.

                        OH NO!

Just when I thought BU was on its way back to respectability, Coach Ford uttered the words that strike fear into my heart!

                        Per PJS DR's BU-UT-M story:

'"For us to have a good team, we have to hang our hat on the defensive end,??? Ford said'...

I thought I had heard that particular coach speak for the last time several years ago.

No more hanging hats at BU, shoot better or get better offensive players STAT!

Oh yeah, another thing, no more losses on the coach, losses are on the players' preparation and efforts from now on!

Nice job by Geno I thought to shake things up a bit and get JG into the game. And maybe it was a wake up call to the regulars that their minutes are not guaranteed.

Seriously? Giving out a "B" for that performance? Even a "C" would have been generous.
I would give it a "D+" simply from the result and effort.
UT-Martin was the worst team we've played all year.
I didn't see the USF game, but most of our guys played their worst game of the season on Saturday - not by a lot, but nobody was sharp except for Jake.

Walt's worst game was the 1st one, but this was close, even though he led all scorers. I kept thinking throughout the game that we desperately need a true PG. A few wide open looks that were missed by WL in that zone.

We must have a different grader this year.
