  • Missouri Valley Player of the Week

I hope there's a release out today or tomorrow but perhaps not since not all the teams have played
-- and ..(and I know I am a bit biased but...)

I nominate Tyshon Pickett as this week's Player of the Week...and also Newcomer of the Week!
Tyshon is the only player in the top 6 of both scoring & rebounding except for that kid on Creighton BUT...
Tyshon has a higher scoring average and a higher shooting pct than McDermott!

I'll second that "T" Tyshon for both awards.

        Congrats Tyshon!

And as an added bonus, Bradley is listed #1 in the MVC standings, thanks to our alphabetical advantage over Creighton

anyone guessing the weekly conference awards??

Bradley won 2 games - several Braves had good weeks, Tyshon, Will, DSE, Jake, Walt - but none really stands head and shoulders above the others..

Creighton had 2 games & won both but McDermott will not be the Player of the Week - as one game he had just 5 pts...Echenique had one game of 13pts, 16reb, but 8/8 in the other

Drake played just one game and lost - Jordan Clarke had 17 & 11

Evansville played 3 games and went 2-1, nobody really stood out

ISU won both their games, one in OT, Carmichael had one game of 21, but only 8 in the other..Tyler Brown had 20 & 14

          Indiana State went 2-0 - Odum 15 & 17 pts...but avg just 3.5 asst

Missouri State played just one and lost - scoring only 44 pts - can't really say anyone had a great game

UNI won two games, one in OT, in the first game Deon Mitchell had 27 & Tuttle 21 & 10, but in the 2nd game Mitchell had just 8 and Tuttle 8

SIU hasn't played anyone yet - but in their NAIA game five guys were in double figures yet their highly touted transfer Jackson had just 4

Wichita - played 3 and won 3, Carl Hall had 12 & 11 against VCU but the real player of that game was ex-BU recruit Javonte Reddic of VCU with 22 & 10.
Hall then had 16 against WCU &
Early had one nice game of 21 & 8 against Western Carolina and also 13 vs. VCU.
In their 3rd game - a win over Howard nobody scored more than 11 or had more than 6 rebs.

...so based on all this & WSU's 3-0 week, I'd give the NOW to Cleanthony Early and POW to Carl Hall..but....
.. I am definitely pulling for our glue guy who had TWO double digit games, 9 asst on the week, and gobs of floor burns, deflections, and other fine play.

Early will win NOW and I'll give POW to either Echenique or Carmichael.
