Bradley 78 - UTPA 61
Final-
UTPA 61
Bradley 78
Played well in stretches - but UTPA is not a real good team, remember Iowa clobbered them by over 30
Will Egolf still hitting 3's nicely
We give up too many easy 3 pt attempts..
I like our overall athleticism - maybe can stay with most teams if we can hit shots

It was a fun game to watch- For as frantic as Bradley plays at times, and with guards that don't always seem to take the best care of the ball, we only had 9 turnovers, and I don't recall any turnovers against the soft press that Texas Pan-Am played nearly the entire game.
Will played very good, b ut he can't afford to get those bad fouls from reaching over guys. Same with Tyshon, he still gets too many fouls. Walt, jake, DSE, Jalen, and Prosser all had good games.
UTPA is really small and thin in their frontcourt, and that will hurt them all year. But they had a couple good shooting guards in Provost and Urbanus. And their freshman, Shaquille Hines impressed me as a good player with the potential to become much better. Hard to believe he was not recruited harder by teams around the midwest.

Two things. First, the attendance was low because this game was not apart of the season ticket package, and Bradley saved a lot of tickets for students since they were trying to do a Greek night and hoping for several hundred more students than actually showed up.
Second off, very painful to watch Prosser not be able to score on several breakaway layups/dunks and get blocked on several occasions. Our defense tends to very inconsistent and our we need to put a hand up on perimeter d. All night our hands were down, and that was just asking for them to shoot the 3 and they just made shots. Props to them.
What surprised me was that we didn't go inside as much as we did in the first game, and we had a pretty big advantage inside tonight. Pickett didn't get as many shots, and it seemed like Lemon just kept dribbling with his head down most of the night and missed several open plays while he was trying to score in traffic.
I'm sure we are going to do significantly better than last year barring injury, and I'm hoping that as the season goes along we become more comfortable playing with each other and can close out games a lot better than tonight. But a win is a win. I have hope this year. Let's keep it up.

Someone finally answered that by saying that POB often blocked the shot BEFORE it had left the shooter's hands - thus it was NOT really a blocked shot but instead just a ball knocked loose if BU got it.
So the stat keepers argued it wasn't really a blocked shot stat-wise.
Well last night, they credited FIVE blocked shots to UTPA's Hines (one is actually pictured on the front page of the sports section - clearly the ball not out of the shooter's hands)
....and yet at least 3 or 4 of them were exactly the same - balls slapped or knocked loose before the left the shooter's hands.
So which is it? Why is it scored a blocked shot sometimes and not other times?
