  • Lakers fire coach Mike Brown

The LA Lakers have started 1-4 this season after adding Dwight Howard and being picked by some to be the greatest team in NBA history. So today the team fired their coach, Mike Brown. Looks like Dwight Howard's coach-killing abilities are stronger than ever.

Is Phil Jackson available? Mike D'Antoni is also rumored to be considered.

When Nash gets back you would have to believe Jerry Sloan would be the best coach for this team. I was never a Brown fan especially the offense he was trying to establish this year.

For some reason I doubt if the Zen master would want to put his body through the paces of coaching a whole season. I could be wrong of course and to fire your coach so quick they probably have someone in the wings already.

A lot of news reports over the weekend were reporting that Phil Jackson had agreed to coach the Lakers, but now it is now being reported that Mike D'Antoni will be named Head Coach of the Lakers.

Last night's Lakers game under Mike D'Antoni was a capsule of their entire season --
spurts of good play but extremely lazy defense all game long - looking like overpaid superstars who have no interest in actually working hard.
Lakers drop to 15-20 despite their multisuperstar lineup - Kobe, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol...

when was the last time the Lakers had 20 losses by the 10th of January...?

Answer: 1993-1994 when they finished 33-49

They are just not athletic enough to play great D and Dwight Howard is over-hyped IMO. Unlike The Spurs whose identity is on playing great team defense The Lakers believe they are better then that. At this level every team has guys that can put the ball in the basket it's great D that makes the difference. The great Bulls' team is probably known more about MJ but in reality it was their D that separated them from everyone else.
