Dave Reynolds: BU hot on the recruiting trail

Dave reports what we have reported here that one of Bradley Coach Geno Ford's top targets for the remaining 2 scholarships for next year is Deshawn Delaney of Vincennes University. The other top target appears to be Tommy Hamilton of IMG Academy, but there are other big man options.

I would like to get both of these players, with what he already have and the 2 incoming recruits this could be one of the best classes at BU in quite sometime.

This seems a bit optimistic. Even if we sign all four (Zecevic, Tucker, Delaney, Hamilton) we will have a 4-man recruiting class where not one of them has a current offer from another school, and 3 of the 4 are not even rated by Scout or Rivals. I am not saying that they might not be quality under-the-radar kids, who could develop into good D1 players. Just how quickly we forget some of our past recruiting classes with kids who had were much higher rated players, and some who turned down higher offers to come to Bradley, and a lot of past recruiting classes that contained players who were starters right away and immediate impacts, or All MVC players immediately.

not to speak for real fan...but he said for quite some time. I'm not sure who we have had the last several years who turned down higher offers than BU....I know there was interest in a couple maybe and early offers that were withdrawn......but it seems like it's better to be optimistic than not

          Ka'Darrell Bell = Iowa offer.

In fact, I believe Iowa offered before Bradley (although I'm not sure about that...)

I was referring to our projected 2013 class.

Nobody knows what will happen with these specific players, but I like the fact that the article states that the targeted positions are for a post and a wing player.
              Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I agree that those are what I see as our biggest needs. And despite being under-the-radar, I like Deshawn Delaney if we can get him into Bradley.
But the post player, IMO, needs to be someone who can play and help us immediately. I'd prefer to see us land a big juco kid, There are a lot still available.
Here are a few uncommitted juco big men that would be worth taking a look at-

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketb...n9XxKnNq7XO5B4 (he was once a BU recruit)
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketb...9Y.H0C8d_XO5B4 (Former SIU stud Mamadou Seck's little brother)

And there are literally dozens more juco big men who are in the class of 2013, most of whom will likely end up at D1 schools somewhere.
Here is a list from Rivals of some of the available juco big men (sorry for the disorganized list- it was cut and pasted from a Rivals search window)-

If Delaney waits for the spring I dont think we have more than a 5% chance of getting him.

                    recruiting article on Chicago kids......
the only BU mention is on Tommy Hamilton (described as underachiever) - who isn't in Chicago any more

Ulis is one of my favorite players and would be great here. I still think bigger schools will come around and we will have no shot. I also haven't heard us mentioned as recruiting him. But if we were able to I would be all for it.

I don't know that those offers were left when JP signed...lots of interest early and then it seemed to die off.
