The same thing is happening in Chicago with the Cubs... They brought in Theo, known for winning championships, he explains his rebuilding process (waiting for old contracts to run out) and timeframe. Shows how they are approaching things differently (ie fundamentals like base running) and yes, Theo gets a lot less heat than Hendry (really nice guy who had some quick successes, but didn't seem to be building a team the same way other great programs built their teams)

Yeah, saw that too. I think TB would have a little better idea about the leadership of the team and what went on in the locker room. I would tend to defend TB on this one, as I feel that aside from the suspension at the beginning of the year, he and AT did their best to lead the team and play hard every time they took the floor. They just have a different style of leading. DR may have crossed the line by putting in "far" (from leaders).

Just a side note - I am very happy for both these guys. From my perspective, they grew up last season as seniors and represented BU well. They have bright futures ahead because of their hard work and perseverence, that accompanied the tremendous support and opportunities provided by Bradley U.

It's all part of a campaign to blame everything on the previous coach, and absolve those who are running the athletic department and basketball program now. Fans are just not that stupid.

Why would Dave Reynolds post quotes like this in his columns when he knows they just are not true?
"We don't have anybody in our locker room who's ever been all-conference or part of a winning team at Bradley.

And there are several more ludicrous statements by DR and KW in those Hoops articles. As noted above, There are 5 players on the current roster that were part of winning seasons at Bradley. And, although nobody currently on the team has ever been All MVC, the previous coach had All Conference players nearly every season he was here, including several 1st teamers.
I am all for optimism and hope, and I support this program. But come on, lets stop the constant drooling over the way things now are, and creating and shifting blame elsewhere.
Maybe when this regime posts 20+ win seasons back to back to back to back, we can finally stop blaming the wrong people for the current shortcomings.

the pen isn't nearly as mighty as it once was - there's fewer people who bother to read what the pen writes and even fewer yet that give what's written much credence.

even some non-penned news sources like PJS get precious little traffic because first - they charge you, then they give you a gazillion popups and ads, then they crash your entire computer trying to load their tracking software and spyware that tyhey make money on....

I agree, but then why continue to lament Jim's perceived mis-treatment?

just calling a spade a spade...anyway -- shouldn't someone try to point out the real reasons we are drawing only 3000 and going 2-16 in the Valley?
The personal vendettas, the desire to run people out, and the silly decision making in the media and elsewhere all in the name of trying to improve Bradley basketball - have utterly failed...but you wouldn't know it reading what some people say..
I appreciate any BU coverage but all this...
"we're on the right track.." and "help is on the way" and "now we have difference makers" and "best recruiting class in years" ...AND COMMENTS ABOUT HOW MUCH BETTER WE ARE THIS YEAR based solely on a couple wins over lowly exhibition opponents....
..still haven't brought us any wins yet....

What did you makev of Jake's quote?
. "People are diving on loose balls and the team's going to pick the guy up (off the floor). That's something I haven't seen the the 3 years I've been here"

again -- those are some puzzling statements - just like the ones about nobody ever being on a winning team and no team leaders -- where did that stuff really come from? (I know ..."literary license")

I thought the Hoops section was terrific as usual. The PJStar does an outstanding job covering not just the Braves, but all local hoops action.

They combine great reporting with very insightful opinion pieces. I know many great Bradley fans love that they can receive balanced and honest information and opinion in the local paper.

Keep it up guys, great work!

Can't wait to see BU start the season tonight!

Taylor had a lot of talent but for whatever reason never played up to expectations , my guess was his attitude , talked about being a team leader yet had the ability to be first team all conference yet never came close, should have spent more time in the gym and not spend so much time on twitter.

I agree and this was one of their best jobs of getting great info. about the players.

I think Taylor tried too hard to carry the team during the Valley season.
I have no problem with his efforts on the floor last year. He did suffer an injury halfway through the Valley season which I think affected his play too.

Realfan - just curious how you know how much time Taylor put in the gym. He may be a tweethead, but I think he entered into the season prepared and put forth the work he needed.

Yes T, I will try to point out the real reasons and make it very simple for you but I can only come up with one reason. It's the players the last staff brought in and it doesn't get any simpler then that. With the product Jim had his last two years and what he left Geno last year is the reason we finished where we did the last couple of years and why we're drawing like we are. I've said it before and I'll say it again.Better days are coming and if not I'm betting there will be another change but I don't see that happening.
