Lots of time went into the writing of all those stories in the Hoops section and I appreciate the hard work...
one statement by Geno stood out......talking about his present group of players....
"If we played last year's team, this year's group would win by 15 points."
...I cracked a little smile at that since as I observed it - it didn't take a good team to beat us by 15 last year!
Drake was a mediocre .500-team and yet beat us by 16
SIU went 8-23 and were as bad as any team in the Valley for years and yet they beat us by 17
Evansville went 16-16 against a relatively weak schedule and yet they beat us by 23 and 30
ISU was just .500 in the Valley and "were no higher than a 4th seed" (the JL-definition of mediocre to many) and yet they beat us by 30
Wichita was a good team but as we all know - they beat us by 37 & 39 points

Another comment by Coach Ford is not accurate at all-
In the front article of the Hoops section, is this article by Dave Reynolds-
'The Real World': Bradley Team Preview
Coach Ford said this at the end of the article-
"The biggest thing we have to overcome is a belief and a confidence in ourselves," Ford said. "We don't have anybody in our locker room who's ever been all-conference or part of a winning team at Bradley. So we have to believe what we're doing is good enough to turn the corner."
I hate to be picky, but this isn't even close to being true.
Maybe since Geno wasn't around, he can be forgiven if he mistakenly thinks Bradley has been a losing team for most of the last decade. But I think Dave Reynolds knows better.
Will Egolf was a freshman on the team in 2007-2008 when Bradley won 21 games. His second year at Bradley, 2008-2009, Bradley again won 21 games, and his third season, 2009-2010, Bradley also had a winning record (16-15). So Will Egolf was on 3 different winning teams his first 3 seasons at Bradley.
And Dyricus Simms-Edwards, Jake Eastman, Milos Knezevic, and even Jordan Prosser were all members of that 2009-2010 team that had a winning record, too. That's 5 of this year's players who were on winning Bradley teams in the past, and Will was on 3 of them!

I am certain that the PJS is benefiting from more access to the program, but I thought that today's Hoops section was their best effort in quite some time.Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

when newspaper people say things that insult those they write about - people call it honesty -- "he isn't supposed to be a cheerleader"
but when they kiss-up & drool all over a team that played poorly, got beat by 30-40 pts, and lost more games than Bradley has ever lost ...
then they say the writers need to be polite in order to "gain closer access to the program"...and that there's no need to be brutally honest because it would be too harsh
to me it shows there's no batch of people more biased and self-serving than those who claim to be honest and unbiased media folks
