  • Non-conference projections

Time to see what everyone things about the non-conference part of the schedule and how will Bradley do.

Here are the teams Bradley will play in the non-conference part of the schedule-
    Team............Last year's RPI...overall record...conference record
    Eastern Illinois......286...............10-17.................5-11 OVC
    Texas Pan-Am......313................7-21..................6-7
    IUPUI..................210...............12-18.................7-12 Summit
    South Florida........52................19-13.................13-7 Big East
    UT-Martin............326...............2-27..................0-16 OVC
    Central Mich.........277..............10-21.................6-12 MAC
    Michigan..............13................23-9..................14-6 Big Ten
    George Wash........187..............10-21.................5-12 Atlantic 10
    Georgia Southern...213.............13-15.................13-7 Southern
    Miss Valley St.......144..............21-12.................20-1 SWAC
    Virginia Tech........115..............16-17..................5-13 ACC
    Portland..............238...............6-24..................4-14 WCC
    (Possible)
    Colorado St......... 29................19-11.................9-7 Mountain West

There are a lot of really high RPI numbers from last year, and after doing some research on each team this year, I don't see that many of those teams are very improved this season. There are only 4 schools that even had a winning record, and we will most likely only play 3 of them.
So IMO, we should have 8 (8-4) wins by the beginning of the conference games.
    What does everyone think?

Good work, da coach. I agree, that schedule is looking downright ISU-esque. I don't see but 1 team- Michigan- on the non conference schedule that will likely finish with an RPI in the top half of division 1. We should have a winning record after those games, but I'd be surprised if we don't have one of the worst couple SOS in the league.

      5 losses in that mix.

      1- USF
2- Either Central Mich or IUPUI on the road
      3- Mich
      4- GW
5- Either Va Tech or CSU

I'm hoping for better than 7-5 but not expecting it. And I don't think this is a weak schedule by any means. USF, Va Tech, Colo St. will easily be top half of D-1 on RPI and they are all away or neutral site games. Michigan speaks for itself.

Anything less than 4 losses in the non-con will be a major achievement.

I honestly forget how terrible this schedule is, the wins column will look greatly improved, but that will be due in large part to our weakest schedule in recent memory. I'm OK with that this year, though I think our conference mates who are doing well won't be too fond of it...

IMO, there is only a small chance we will play Colorado State. Much more likely we will get Portland in the 2nd game in Vegas.

We should be 8-4. That being said though, I will be very happy with 8-4! This is provided we win the games we should win, but I think there will be a game where we don't play well, resulting in losing a game we should win (I'm thinking the IUPIU and GW games will be pretty close outcomes)

Well, the more I look at it, I forgot we were about a 250-ish RPI team last year.

But 7-5 is a safe call, and what should be expected with this group provided we are at full strength.
Weren't we 6-6 last season heading into league play? We should be improved this season and our schedule is more favorable. 6-6 would be a big disappointment IMO.

Not quite. We were 5-7 in the pre-conference games. We beat UMKC, SEMO, North Dakota, and Northeastern at home, and beat George Washington U. by 1 point on the road. Losses were to Wofford, Wisconsin, Nevada, Wyoming, Drexel, Western Carolina, and Michigan. We also lost at home to Loyola in the BracketBuster to go 5-8 in non-conference games, along with 2-16 in conference, and 0-1 in the MVCT for an overall record of 7-25.

I have us for 5-7 (conservatively) and then 5 or 6 conference wins.
