Hasn't this been a conspiracy theory since Glasser came to town?

Downgrading us to a DII team that plays at the Ren-Col?

    Here is my question....

    what if we go like:

    8-10 this year (5th Place)
    7-11 next year (6th Place)
6-12 the next next year (8th Place)
11-7 the next next next year (5th Place) and make the S16.......

do we give GF an extension? for 5+ more years?

JG would not last an evening in town if BU relegated itself to D-II, so lets stop with those conspiracy. I doubt if that is remotely on her blueprint. My guess she would love BU to be a major mid-major force like Creighton. The problem with a plan is not so much the plan but the execution. I have my theories on why its just not working as planned but I'm willing to give this (like I have any other choice) experiment a bit more time.

What if we finish .500 in the league then go to the NIT like ISU did and our coach gets hired away -- then who do we hire??
Do we follow the pattern and advance from within like the women's program did and hire one of the assistants who has never been a head coach?

Serious? If Bradley can have a 20+ win season by the 4th year and get Bradley to the Sweet 16, it will be considered a rousing success by everyone.

In fact, if we can win 8 MVC games this year, Geno's second year (which is what the previous coach did his first year!) I will be ecstatic, and so will everyone else. But I don't know of anyone who thinks that will happen.

If you are trying to show how comparable things are to 2002 and 2003, you have actually shown just the opposite- just how low things have dropped.

You're saying if AT was 3 inches taller, people would not have considered him a "wasted scholarship"? If MK were 7'1" and still deep on the bench, he would not be considered a "wasted scholarship" for all these years?

People are willing to "waste" a scholarship for 4 years in order to get one year of production from a kid just because he's 7'1". I guess that's what I don't understand.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

For the record, my point about BU eventually playing all of their games in the RC had nothing to do with BU dropping down to DII... I doubt that ever happens. However, if attendance continues its downward trend after BU starts winning again the RC makes for a nice (and profitable) option down the road.

And, to answer your question FWO about giving Geno a new (and rich) 5-year contract if your scenario plays out I would hope that it would be incentive-laden with less guaranteed money (and guaranteed years) than was given to Les. Remember, at the end of the day, Les was "only" making $400K. That's not really a lot of money in today's coaching world.

I think because he's 7' 1" is the only reason you extend an offer to a kid like Wells in the first place. Depending on who you ask, AT's effort and commitment to training were his biggest issues, not his talent. Regarding Milos, he's a great kid, but clearly something is/was missing there.

I think eventually Bradley finds a way to expand the RC to a 7-8k seat arena and move all games back there. That would be about the average season ticket level with very few singles available. The best way to drive up rates is high occupancies.

When Bradley gets competitive again, I just don't see them looking for a way to play their games in front of fewer than 10,000 people. Although Omaha and Wichita are larger markets than Peoria, if this thing gets where we all expect it to go (Bradley joining Creighton and WSU to form the Big 3 in the MVC), it wouldn't make any sense for us to be playing in the 3rd smallest building in the league.

Wisconsin-Parkside played at UW-Milwaukee tonight. UW-Parkside played well, and lead nearly the entire game. UW-P lead 38-24 at halftime, and maintained the lead until the final minute, except for a UW-M 1 point lead midway through the 2nd half. But UW-Milwaukee came back at the end to pull it out by 1.

Some of this thread is a waste of time. Going D-11,playing at the RC, and a 7'1" waste of a scholarship. 1.) We will not be going to the D-11 level. 2.) We will not be moving our games to the RC. and 3.) our 7'1" kid will not be a wasted scholarship. Nate may never be a POB but he already is better then our last 7 footer. BH great kid though.

They played in their on-campus arena and drew an announced crowd of only 1500..
and Paris Gulley did not play - recovering from fracture in left hand

If anyone hasn't seen the impressive dunk by Walt Lemon, Jr. in the game Saturday against Wisconsin-Parkside, click in the center of the video screen at the top of this article-
PEORIA, Ill. ? Tyshon Pickett led five Bradley players in double-figures with 14 points and added 10 rebounds in his first-ever game at Carver Arena, pacing the Braves to a 70-42 exhibition win.

BU MBB attendance now and into the future will be a challenge....

-Fewer local area students at BU
-Fewer BU graduates staying in the Central Peo Area
-Student attendance at BU games peaked with NCAA S16 and has been
declining ever since...don't expect these now alumni to all of a sudden begin showing up
-# of LT BU Fans from 'glory days' in the 80's are shrinking and others leaving the area
-The economy still stinks making discretionary spending on BU tickets more difficult
-More social/recreational activites competing for public's entertainment income that even in the early 2000's

All arguments about 'fallout' affect on BU attendance assume that the trends of JL's last several seasons would not continue, and, that magically BU would have all sorts of major success....and attendance would overcome all the negative factors working to suppress it.

In the current environment, BU needs to pull in LOTS of non BU grads from central Peo area..... to backfill the parents of former local BU students and the shrinking # BU alumni in the area.

WINNING, WINNING, WINNING along with keeping the BU game 'experience' fresh, interesting and affordable.... this is what needs to be done to pull in non alumni in the area in today's world.

Like BO vs MR, the public is split on whether JL or a replacement (in this case GF) was the right way to go.... GF has the job, so time to start FORGETTING about the past and concentrate on BU's future.

What are you looking for T, BU to rehire JL, or, every poster on BF.com to post you were correct in your predictions? For the latter to happen, will have to wait for a couple more years of the GF era to play out. Sorry...

Try not to let everything happening now continue getting framed with one's opinion/bias from the past.
