  • A thought on NBA salaries

    a guy who isn't a starter - even tho he's good....
turns down $13 million per year from a team that can win the Championships...because he wants MORE MONEY

Since no deal could be reached between OKC and James they traded him along with Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook, and Lazar Hayward to Houston for Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb, two first round picks and a second round pick. I think OKC got a pretty dang good for a guy that will be a free agent at the end of the year. Sounds like Houston will give him his max deal though....

The Oklahoma City Thunder have traded Sixth Man of the Year James Harden to the Houston Rockets, breaking up the young core of the Western Conference champions.

The Rockets are tying up a lot of mediocre players - Lin, Asik, Harden - with big money. Yikes...

and Harden gets what he wants - Houston reportedly is paying him $16 mil per year - $80 mil over 5 years

Looks like Houston is sitting pretty with Harden and Lin. Harden goes from 6th man of the year to very early season MVP. OKC is struggling without him.

            Harden has been very impressive
..he has had games of 37, 45, and 24 points and is averaging 35.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, and 6.3 apg

Jeremy Lin is averaging 15.3 ppg & 7.3 apg but unfortunately Houston is lacking a frontcourt that does much...
Ex-Chicago Bull Omer Asik fills the middle but does little else - in 35 minutes last night he got just 4 pts -
Houston got eaten alive bythe Blazers' LaMarcus Aldridge.

Yeah all Asik is doing is pulling down enough rebounds to be 3rd in the NBA at this point. And he plays a good defensive game.

The Bulls are happy to have Nazr Mohammed, who they signed for $1.3 million, as opposed to paying 3 year/$24 million+ it would have cost them to retain Asik as a backup. He will not average 14 rpg for the rest of this season.

I don't disagree on the salary at this point. I would have loved for the Bulls to be able to retain him at the 4/20 range.

I do think he will average double digit boards this year and play great defense. If he continues that, he may be well worth the money to Houston.

Are you calling James Harden a mediocre player?

He is an All-Star and an Olympian.
