now 35-25 - one of the St. Leo's kids is a Milwaukee kid named Chim Kadima who Bradley once recruited and who initially went to Loyola before leaving there and now at St. Leo's
Kadima was at one time, when in high school a couple years ago - RANKED #50 NATIONALLY!!!

(that's a couple spots higher than Dion Waiters who went to Syracuse, stayed just two years and jumped to the NBA and was taken 4th overall.

edit -- Shane Larkin nails a 25 footer buzzer beater to close the score to 37-30 at half - Larkin is the son of baseball HOF'er barry Larkin

watching this Miami game and Miami had to go on a run just to get within 52-41 with 10 min to go...
clearly the Miami guys are the far greater athletes - they so clearly run faster, swarm on defense, fly high, grabbing rebounds...and yet a well coached team of solid players is about to embarrass them....
Funny how Larranaga used to be the guy who had that well coached team - now he appears to have a bunch of undisciplined uber-athletes

Miami becomes the first big school to lose to a non-DI opponent in an exhibition..

Vandy beats St. Xavier and finally Brehm Prep's James Siakam gets a chance to play 27 minutes off the bench - and all he does is get 22 pts & 17 rebounds!

                ..
in that UC-Davis game - this same UC-Santa Cruz team took UC-Davis right down to the wire last year with UCD having to come from behind in the final 2 minutes...but this year seems different...
this game was a UCD 46-17 blowout at the half and Corey Hawkins already had his FULL totals of 19 pts, 6 rebs, 2 asst, and 1 steal in just 17 1st half minutes - and he played less than ONE MINUTE in the 2nd half before sitting for good!
UCD doesn't have a big fan base but they are buzzing already...

and I had never heard of University of Mary Dingman...?
but can you imagine drawing 15,436 for an exhibition game?? Wow...
This game also was no real test as it was a whopping 61-21 Creighton lead at half!!

also in Hawaii's exhibition win- their two D-I transfers shined...
Brandon Spearman (Chicagoan - transfer from Dayton) - 11 pts, and Christian Standhardinger (transfer from Nebraska) had 20 pts & 15 rebs!

the Vandy-St. Xavier game was actually fairly tight -- single digits much of the way with St. Xavier within 5 in the final minutes - and Vandy playing their starters right to the end..
even playing a couple starters nearly the entire FORTY MINUTES!

Previously Loyola, for some reason, had played one of those closed, secret scrimmages against St. Xavier - and the rumble
on their boards is that Loyola struggled against them - maybe even lost but no result are ever made official.

                    Evansville beat UIS (Illinois-Springfield) 79-54...
Colt Ryan 17 pts on 13 shots...

East Peoria's Dylan Sparkman 13 pts, 7 rebs for UIS

In one junior college game - State College of Florida beat IMG 99-67..
SCF is Devon Hodges' new juco, and BU recruit Tommy Hamilton started & played for IMG...scoring 2 pts, and grabbing 5 rebs

                      A couple more exhibitions..

Oh what might have been -- recall that Fabyon Harris was all but signed at Bradley until...
Well, Fabyon landed at Texas A&M and last night in A&M's 97-83 win over Incarnate Word University,
Fabyon had 28 points on 11-15 & 4-5 from the arc, he also had 3 steals & 3 rebs

SIU played the same Upper Iowa team that Bradley just beat 68-54 and SIU won 73-62.
Desmar Jackson had 19 pts, 7 rebs, 6 steals & Jeff Early added 18 pts.

Butler beat ex-InSU assistant Stan Gouard's University of Indianapolis...63-47
For Butler, Arkansas transfer Rotnei Clarke - who is their designated sharpshooter was just 4-16 and hit just 2 3-pointers in 8 attempts...as both teams struggled with shooting percentages.
Butler got a few calls and went to the FT line 32 times compared to UIndy's 12...
Indy actually led well into the 2nd half until Butler scored 16 pts on FT's and 29 pts total during a run where Indy only scored 12 pts total and several of their key players were in foul trouble.

Drake beat Southwest Baptist 101-80, Van Deest 15 pts & Ben Simons 13 pts/11 rebs and lots of minutes for the subs...
BUT...Drake actually trailed almost the entire 1st half and was down 44-42 at the half -

Missouri State beat McKendree (NAIA trying to transition to D-II) - 82-54, freshman Gavin Thurman 18 pts,
and MSU starters scored only 27 while the bench scored 55!

Loyola beat Ferris State 61-46, Ben Averkamp had 22 pts, highly touted multi-transfer Cully Payne just 1-6, 3 pts, 2 asst.
This game was close for 30 minutes then Loyola blew it out to 20 pts...
Ex-BU recruits: Jeff Keke White (from Manual) was 3-9, 6 pts, but 4 turnovers in 24 minutes
Tanner Williams 4 pts, 6 rebs in just 10 minutes.

Yesterday also marked the return to the sidelines for St. John's head coach Steve Lavin whose Redmen beat Sonoma State 73-55.
But there was some controversy -- two highly touted juco transfers - both from Matt Salley's juco Monroe - sat out due to quesitons of their eligibility.
Recall - St. John's lost THREE starters last year to negative eligibilty rulings and are quite likely to lose three again this year. So - if Lavin is tying up scholarships year after year on players who cannot get eligible then what the heck is going on -- why is he taking such risky commits?
God's Gift Achiuwa - who was one of their best players last year and who is a senior (juco transfer) is sitting out because of talk of redshirting him - but that appears odd as he is perhaps the most experienced returnee!
All this leaves finally a bit of playing time for Shayok Shayok's & Walt Lemon's old teammate Phil Greene.
JaKarr Sampson showed little in the way of freshman hesitation and scored from all parts of the floor. Chris Obekpa swatted away more than a half dozen shots. And Christian Jones continued his unex…

Wyoming nips Wooster 61-46 - ex-BU recruit Larry Nance, Jr. with 12 pts/11 rebs
                      & ex-BU recruit Derek Cooke 5 pts, 6 rebs

NIU beat Aurora University 89-56 - ex-BU recruit Akeem Springs had 10 - Aurora had Marious Lobdell (11 pts) from Manual and his brother who played with Donivine Stewart, Marquis Lobdell (2 pts/3 rebs) from Limestone

ex-BU recruit coty Clarke again shined last night for Arkansas --
he came off the bench to play 18 minutes but had 15 pts & 10 rebs plus 5 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals

and SLU holds Rockhurst to 29% shooting as Mike McCall scores 14 and Dwayne Evans 12.
Illinois Mr. Basketball runnerup Keith Carter played 19 minutes, made one basket and had one assist.

ex-BU recruit Kyle Cassity is now graduated and a look back on his four year career at Saint Louis shows just maybe he aimed too high..
it's kinda sad that his talents were simply never evident as he could have been a prolific scorer had he played maybe at the D-II level.
Despite being hailed as a tremendous, lights-out long range shooter and scorer...he finished his career at SLU with
a rather miserable 31.8% career 3-pt shooting percentage, and only 3.2 ppg his senior season..he also hit only 65.5% of his FT's over his four years!

Michigan won their final exhibition last night against their D-II opponent in 30-point blowout fashion...

the sad news was that even in a total blowout with lots of minutes available for the subs...
Beilein saw fit to put Max Bielfeldt in very late for just 3 garbage-time minutes and he was scoreless.....

their top returning player Abdel Nadar did not play and no explanation was given at all. Not even any mention in any article - just one post by a blogger who suspected it was due to injury - but it actually appears that he was suspended for a violation.

In Keno Davis' Central Michigan Chippewas debut his team had to rally late and beat Lake Superior 86-76 in a game that was pretty even 'til the final 10 minutes..

Louisville beat Bellarmine 65-46 and they posted an announced attendance of 20,422...but anyone who could see might have doubted that figure...
Quite a few of the seats were empty ...and maybe that was good - as Louisville was just 1-19 from 3-pt range. Bellarmine was just 5-29.

Attendance at Northwestern's exhibition win over Univ. of Chicago was said to be just 800!!!

The UIC Flames barely squeak by D-III Wisconsin-Platteville..
Looks like they will struggle to find scoring as two of the starters went scoreless..and highly touted, well traveled transfer Josh Crittle was benched but no explanation given.

DePaul is rotating four different uniforms this season --
Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

Wisconsin beat UW-Oshkosh in an exhibition and a couple kids Bradley had been recruiting got to play and produced very little...
Sam Dekker was 0-3 from 3pt but ended with 5 pts in 19 minutes, Zak Showalter played 13 minutes & went 0-1, and Duje Dukan had just 2 pts in 13 minutes.

And in even more proof that ex-BU recruit Stan Simpson made yet another huge mistake by going to Memphis and thinking he'd ever play there....
last night in Memphis' 65-54 win over Christian Brothers - Stan got a grand total of two minutes of playing time and had a complete statistical o-fer
...0 pts, 0 rebs, 0 asst, 0 blk, 0 steals - he did however pick up a foul.
Anyone remember the kid who decommitted from SIU to go to Memphis, Drew Barham?? He also seems to have made some bad choices if playing basketball was actually his goal....
He reneged on his commitment to SIU to walk on at Memphis....but he never cracked the lineup there....so he transferred to.........Gonzaga! He was eligible right away but in Gonzaga's first exhibition - a 93-45 blowout of NW Nazarene - Drew played and went 1-7...
My guess is he won't get a lot of playing time with that kind of shooting.
