Here's a great article and a sortable database of how much colleges are spending on their BASKETBALL programs (mostly scholarships & recruiting)..
They note that in football the MONEY means success -- as all the National Champs since the 80's are among the TOP 20 in football spending/budgets..
But not so in basketball - sometimes spending means success like when Duke or Kentucky win the title - but lots of lesser-spending programs have been successful...
Note only 2 non-BCS schools in the TOP 50 (Memphis & Gonzaga) and Creighton is the top MVC school at #52...spending about $4.5 million per year..
Wichita State falls just inside the TOP 100 then Bradley at about #120 with $2.9 mil basketball budget..
Then comes UNI and all the rest at right around $1.5-2 mil...
