The attitude on this board strikes me as a sour one heading into the season...and it's probably justified.
I know that the red-white game comes weeks before the regular season, so it's hard to get into Braves basketball until a few days before the 1st exhibition game. And the organization of the scrimmage is questionable in the eyes of most BU fans.
I for one am excited about the 2nd year of Geno's tenure. Not that I'm expecting a complete turnaround or even a .500 season.
Yeah, we've been disappointed for a few seasons now with unmet expectations, the injury bug, whatever.
But I get a sense there is different mindset to this team.
Whatever the case, a new basketball season is imminent, so let's get excited about what's to come...eventually we'll get over the red-white scrimmage that Geno probably feels is less meaningful that any practice he will hold.
Brace yourselves for an exciting season. It's Braves basketball - better days are ahead folks! Some of you need proof to believe that, I'm believing that the proof will come.
Reasons to be hopeful:
Much more depth - no injuries!
Help from newcomers TP, KB, & maybe NW
We DO have an experienced team
Geno has a better sense of what it takes to compete in the Valley
Tougher, and more competitive practices
Most players will focus on executing Geno's system rather than learning it
Defense will be an emphasis, which is how we can stay competitive
Hey - it can't get any worse than last year!
(Not saying that all the above will make us tons better, but at least the outlook is brighter than at any time last year)
