I've never seen a group of grown men bitch about being forced to watch 18-22 year old girls in spandex and tank tops run around and get sweaty, but want to see 18-22 year old guys run around and get sweaty. It is a very interesting phenomenon.
But I have it on good authority that if you want to see only basketball - get there between 7:45 and 7:49.Comment

HEY here's a novel idea....Wisconsin-Milwaukee holds their Sneak-Peek Fullcourt Scrimmage but....it's not open to everyone...
only their upper level Club members, their season ticket holders, and students that buy ticket packages...are allowed in...
This is a great idea because it rewards their best fans but it also encourages NEW fans to sign up and become supporters...
"The scrimmage is free and open to Full-Court Club members as well as
season and Four-Pack ticket-holders which have not yet joined the Full-
Court Club. Plus, members of UWM's student "Panther Pack" have also
been invited. Those planning to attend are also encouraged to bring
potential Panther fans along to give them an up-close introduction to
Milwaukee basketball."

OK, I'll join the fun.
A few things to consider regarding the decision to combine the volleyball game with the annual Red-White Scrimmage and hopefully you will be a little less likely, just a little, to believe the administration is made up of a bunch of cash-grabbing nincompoops:
1) The NCAA sets the date for the first day of practice and the MVC determines the conference volleyball and soccer schedules. This year's start of men's basketball practice, Oct. 12, happens to be the same day our volleyball team has a league-scheduled home game and the same weekend our soccer team plays a league-scheduled home game.
2) Since the move of the nationally-successful soccer team to Shea Stadium, Bradley University has scheduled Homecoming weekend to coincide with a soccer Saturday. Our soccer weekend home games this year are Aug. 24, Aug. 31, Sept. 29, Oct. 13 and Nov. 3.
3) Homecoming weekend happens to coincide with the first day of NCAA allowable practice, a volleyball weekend, a soccer Saturday and a home cross country meet.
4) With many alumni back in town for Homecoming, we thought it would be a good idea to give them the opportunity to see the men's and women's basketball teams on the court and we know how much all of the local fans want to see the teams as soon as possible. Logic dictates Fridays and Saturdays also are more kid friendly.
5) Back in the old days, the NCAA start of the regular season was not the second Friday in November, which happens to be Nov. 9 this year. There are fewer and fewer days to work in all of the events that we used to have, yet we still are offering the Red-White Scrimmage, the Spaghetti Supper and two preseason exhibition games. In this century alone, we have seen first-game dates of Nov. 19, Nov. 22 and Nov. 21. We no longer have that luxury.
I am sure this is more information than is necessary and will just fuel more debate that will force me to regret chiming in, but I hope it does illustrate that there are quite a few factors that went into the decision to combine the volleyball and Red-White Scrimmage events into Cram the Coliseum.
Of course, a big hope was that many alumni and fans would value the opportunity to come out and support the volleyball team in a Missouri Valley Conference match against in-state rival Southern Illinois in a beautiful new arena and take advantage of the opportunity to see the men's and women's basketball teams in the Red-White Scrimmage at no additional charge. The fact that the volleyball game was going to happen regardless of the Red-White Scrimmage date indicates this is anything but a money grab. Some might argue that attendees are being given the opportunity to attend two events for the price of one.
We know the vast majority are men's basketball fans first, but we hope all are Bradley fans and will consider supporting all of the Braves.
And finally, yes, our administration is always open to feedback, but do appreciate polite feedback, and even criticism. Nobody likes being told they are inconsiderate or unappreciative, however, especially in a public forum. Our email addresses are available online at BradleyBraves.com. Just something to consider.

BUT I will echo that -- of course you guys have as you #1 priority - to be fan-friendly when putting these things together...I know you do the best you can and I think even those who are grumbling might concede as well....
I have always said and have heard this exact same comment from people within our Athletic Dept....that outside of getting the top talent to come to BU - that scheduling is the next hardest thing you guys have to deal with..
it consumes way more time and effort than most people realize, and it isn't as easy as just picking a time and date and going with it - there's a MILLION other complicating factors.....and there'll always be someone who complains -
and unlike what some people seem to think - you can't just flip up a website of other teams looking for games and lock in on a home-and-home with Michigan or the Illini, am I right?
Some have expressed that it ought to be as easy as locking in on a plane flight to Denver...
So please forgive the few comments that might have been negative - we all want to be there for the events & enjoy seeing the team.Comment
