  • Unusual transfer waiver

A kid named Nurideen Lindsey - who graduated from high school in 2009, then sat out 2009-2010 at junior college due to academic eligibility issues,
then he played one year in juco in 2010-2011, then went to St. John's last year as one of Steve Lavin's highly touted recruiting class.

He started and played in nine games last year, then quit - playing all the way until December 5th...............
averaging 11.8 ppg and 4.3 turnovers.... but his last couple games were terrible (1 pt & 4 pts) with lots of missed shots and key missed FT's & TO that had some blaming him for some of the losses.
He said he chose St. John's to be close to his family!

But he quit and in the summer landed at Rider...but NOW he's been given a transfer waiver by NCAA and is immediately eligible to play in Rider's FIRST game on November 9!
He claimed he needed to be "closer to his family".

This is kind of unusual for more than one reason...

-the kid stated he was happy to be in New York and it was plenty close to his home in Philly

    - the kid almost landed at Arkansas and took a visit there and was weighing going there - so does that really sound like he was interested in getting closer to home?

-because the kid had already blown a year sitting in juco this waiver really, just happens to also save the kid a year of college eligibility since he's already burned his redshirt year

One time highly touted 4-STAR PG Nurideen Lindsey is done - now he's quit at Rider ....the press saying.........
"The much-traveled Lindsey was underwhelming in his only season for the 19-15 Broncs,
averaging only 8.0 points per game with a team-leading 102 turnovers..."

      This kid's case in interesting...
first - he only jumped from a 3-Star to a 4-Star kid when he committed to St. John's but he barely played there before leaving then transferring to Rider...
Then NCAA inexplicably granted the kid a waiver so that he did NOT have to sit out a year and could play immediately at Rider...so he's kinda caught every break a kid could catch!
St. John's transfer Nurideen Lindsey has been granted a hardship waiver from the NCAA and will be eligible to play immediately at Rider, the school announced Sunday.

BTW - yet another kid is leaving and transferring from St. John's....the turnover rate there under Steve Lavin is astounding..

Plus another Wake Forest kid is leaving as well - wonder if anyone's left there?

I suppose there is no chance we can get Mike Shaw a waiver, is there?

following up from the above posts - Nurideen Lindsey endedup declaring for the draft and did not withdraw....
he was not drafted and thus becmes a free agent like Jackie Carmichael - but doubtful he'll make it to an NBA roster - he'll probably go overseas, but it's unfortunate since he has talent, had eligibiiity and could have played right away...
