You guys gripe about not getting enough of what you want like a bunch of preteen drama queens. So lemme get this straight...first it's too late, then it's too short, then it's not a big enough deal.

We're you guys at the last red/white game? I seem to remember entire sections of the RC being left WIDE open. No volleyball...pretty sure the women played first, though. Still, even when basketball was "the show", people weren't beating down the door to get in.

Maybe the admins figured that more people might attend this way, maybe they don't care, who knows what they are thinking...I can tell you this though...NOT ATTENDING WON'T PROMPT THEM TO MAKE THIS A BIGGER DEAL NEXT TIME AROUND.

So go to your HS football game, put the kids to bed, or sit home and put your hair up in curlers. I'm going to go...I'm going to go support my alma mater and the home town team.

      Good Point!
I don't know how they do anymore but went w/ some guys to IL midnight madness when Dee Brown & Deron Williams were freshman (yes I realize these guys were special) and this is exactly the type of program they ran except back then the teams couldn't do anything until midnight. They had a volleyball game start @ 7 and then 2 hours of student games to pass the time.
This is much better. You might not have any interest in the womens sports because you havn't watched them-try it you might find you like it. Knew several people last year that once they went they continued to go.

This is not accurate. These 2 events have only been changed significantly these last 2 years.

I recall that the Red-White scrimmage was a yearly event, and was run as a real scrimmage every year just before the exhibitions were played, until it was changed last year. Here is the PJ Star report from last year, and it reports that it was the earliest that the Red-White had ever been held, it was scaled back to a paltry 20 total minutes, and with the Itoo Hall spaghetti supper cancelled, the Red-White was combined with the spaghetti supper.-

The same is true with the Itoo Hall event. It was held yearly just before the season started for as long as I can remember, and was a very popular event. 2010 was the first year that was skipped.
It was also skipped in 2011, as well as this year.

Actually the itoo spaghetti dinner was combined with the red/white game all the way back in 07. That is also a year when the "game" was a paltry 20 minutes, split in two 10 minute halves with a running clock. The nerve! Making people sit through spaghetti and women's basketball for a measly 20 minutes of men's basketball.

The 08 & 09 red/white events didn't happen because of the lack of a fieldhouse to host.

I most certainly will! You sound just like the guy OTOB the thinks just because a person is a Bradley fan and is in Peoria we should automatically be at the Red/White game, as if there's nothing else to do on a Friday night.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

You took what I said the completely wrong way Shaun (and I haven't posted OTOB for a whole season). I'm just saying that beggars can't be chosers...AND whining and complaining here won't change the outcome.

To be honest, I'm so excited about seeing these guys play that I'd watch 2 five minute halves and I'd probably come in at midnight to see it all go down. Love the dunk/3 pt contests too and I hope they have them.

Again, if you truly want it to be a bigger event...NOT SHOWING UP WON'T HELP NEXT TIME. But butts in the seats might.

Oh well, at least we now have a way to determine the age old BF.com question of who "the best" fans are...those that show up to see the Braves play a meaningless 20 minutes on an October Friday night in spite of having to watch volleyball AND women's basketball.

Yeah...I'm a silver lining kinda guy.

Bradley Red & White Scrimmage and spaghetti dinner

Th ITOO Hall spaghetti & fried chicken event was absolutely teriffic! Too bad its been dropped in favor of a watered down version at Ren. Ctr. Whoever in the Ath. Dept. orchestrated this change was/is dead wrong and did nothing other than spoil what had been two great preseason events.
It appears to me to be a classic case of micromanaging in an Ath. Dept that seems to be incapable of doing very much right. These guys could screw up a two car funeral!

I don't get the part on why we have to all sit through the volleyball/women's basketball events....

So we are saying if the volleyball team gets swept we could be about 45 minutes ahead of schedule?

Love it! Good points too - thanks for supporting!
(Not saying that others who aren't going are not huge supporters)

Sounds like it's not the best setup for the night, but I would think if you truly love BU hoops, you would do as much as possible to attend unless you have other commitments. It's been over 7 months since seeing any Bradley basketball!!!!!!! I need my BU hoops fix I guess.
If I were in Peoria, I would attend...even with a 2-year old who normally goes to bed before 9:00...is it going to ruin him if I make an exception...for a Friday night???

The preseason ITOO spaghetti dinner was always a TREMENDOUSLY successful event. Packed to the gills, family friendly, lots of kids and gray-hairs, can barely find a parking place or a place to sit & eat, got to meet & greet the players/coaches, talk with other fans in a casual atmosphere (can't do that seated in an arena at a scrimmage), and a pretty decent money-maker as well with 1200 people coughing up money for food, beer, top boards, and the like.
Almost everyone I have ever talked to misses the Itoo event and says it was the ONE PRESEASON EVENT that they NEVER MISSED.

This was in the eyes of MANY fans THE kickoff event each season that was TRULY looked-forward to and now it's gone.......

And how can basketball be "THE" sport after 2 dismal seasons of last place finishes? Well, I believe it still is, but not to the degree it used to be.
In general, a winning program draws many fans...a mediocre program might still draw a good number...and a suffering one has trouble keeping people interested until things get better. Geno & staff's job is to get better so that BU basketball will return to being "THE" sport and the talk of the town.

as you all know - we go to Mt. Pleasant, MI this season ( on 11/28 ) to play Keno Davis' Central Michigan Chippewas..........

The Chips held their Maroon & Gold scrimmage Saturday....so here's a little scouting report.........

-first they drew a grand total of 150 -- hmmm....more about that below...

-they scored well with the Maroon squad beating Gold 73-67 but questionable defense

-they are a relatively small team - they have several 6-7 and 6-8 players but they do NOT play "above the rim" and they have nobody taller.
They lost a ton since lastyear - especially 4-Star Trey Ziegler who left with his father when Ernie Ziegler was fired.

-One of their 6-8 players is John Simons from Cadiallac, MI - the younger brother of Drake's Ben Simons.

-Ryan Saylor - a grad-student senior who is back for a 5th year (injury redshirt in 2010-11) was the best player - despite a career of playing very little previously - stats were not made available...

-lastly - I did a little searching on their message boards - and their fans have a lot of negatives to say about how things are going at CMU and about their administration...
There were comments opn how attendance at FB games is way down from their usual in the mid-20K range to only 10K (10,172 Saturday) and how the band members & cheerleaders easily outnumbered the fans at the basketball scrimmage...
One comment said the students fit into one single row...and then this comment about things overall......
"The "administration" has done very little right in the past 24 months."
