The Bradley Red-White Scrimmage & the exhibition games/schedule/tickets

Not to mention separate events for men's and women's hoops would involve adding and paying for another event. Game staff, support staff, audio/visual, concessions, band, cheer, cleaning crews, etc.

Seems silly when you can take care of it in one fun filled evening.

Sounds a heckuva lot better than the first time they introduced the basketball teams in the new RC. The teams didn't even dress or play a pick up game...and I'm pretty sure they came out and danced. Talk about dumb.

I too have talked to a lot of people, really great fans, who are excited at the opportunity to watch and support volleyball and women's basketball...in addition to the chance to see the men's team.

I think its funny how Gary gets his wrist slapped for speaking "for everyone" yet its ok for others.

So BU wants me to sit there for 3 hours to watch 20 minutes of a scrimmage? That's testing me. I usually go to these events with a group of people and this will be a hard sell. Maybe we'll go to The Fieldhouse for The Thang burger to kill some time.

I really am curious to see the new guys and how big Shayok is, but I may have to wait until the exhibition season.

I am with you. The volleyball fans can go enjoy the volleyball game if they want, but I plan on skipping this one. I never thought the Bradley men's basketball program would be reduced to a promotion to try to draw people to a women's volleyball game.
Those in charge at BU seem to be continuing their efforts to reduce BU to a Division II program. It won't be long before we see all the home games at the Renaissance Arena. Maybe they can have several volleyball/basketball extravaganzas every year.

Man, I thought you guys wanted a midnight madness setting or something similar and now, all of a sudden 8:30-9 is way to late. Make up your mind.
For me I plan on going and taking the grandchildren also. It isn't go last any later then 10 if that.

I would love a midnight madness event, but I don't want a three hour event of unrelated sports to lead up to the main event. #focuson1sport

Our original plan was for 6 of us to attend the red-white scrimmage but doubt that will happen because that should be the main event and with all that will be going on in front of it does not appear any of us are interested in being forced to watch 2 events in front of this as there are better things to do instead of watching womens events that we have 0 interest in, its like being down there for several hours only to get 25 to 30 minutes of what you want which means your whole friday night is wasted for the most part.

One other factor BU forgot. It's Fri. night and we still have HS football going on. If someone didn't want to see 2 women's events for a 20 minute running clock ,I couldn't blame them.

I don't so much mind having it on a Friday night, or even combining it with the womens scrimmage, but having it follow womens volley ball screams that we don't have a big time program that can draw. Mens BBall should be promoted as THE event, not an afterthought. The fact the details aren't even available on the website is pretty telling of the state of the program IMO.

I have heard it said that because of 2 down years, there would not be enough support for a real "Midnight Madness" event. I don't believe this. Even with 2 last place finishes, Bradley still had the 3rd highest paid attendance among the the 10 MVC teams. And I would bet that the only 2 schools that would draw better for such a Midnight Madness event might be Creighton and WSU if it was done right.
I have also heard it said that Bradley fans complain too much! Maybe it has something to do with too many decisions by people who have little connection to Bradley's past and tradition and make bad decisions in spite of what fans want.
The more I see of this, the more it is clear those now in charge really do not care what longtime fans want. They are determined to make the entire program over, and push those changes down our throats. Too bad there won't be many of us left if it continues. I have been a financial supporter for 40 years, through some pretty bad years. But never has an administration thumbed their nose at donors like this one does.

40 years? Now Biff, im no math major but id say there won't be many of you left soon regardless of BU leadership thumbing their noses.


The downturn of the red white scrimmage and itoo dinner began long before this administration. The red white event was dead to me the year that goofy dance routine made my skin crawl.

A lot of schools have gone away from a midnight madness event actually at midnight. The NCAA changed the rules regarding practices a few years back which ended that time as the first official practice. Now there are more events tied to football and/or homecoming weekends.
