Dana Davis, a well known Peorian who has been working for the Memphis Grizzlies for the past several years (he was the vice president of basketball operations and team programs), but who is still very active in the Peoria community with his Mitchell Anderson basketball camps, passed away quietly in his sleep last night. He was a 1978 Bradley grad. Dana was a great guy, and anyone who ever met him, loved him. RIP DD.
This is from a recent PJ Star article about Memphis Grizzlies owner and self-made billionaire who spoke recently at the Mitchell Anderson Basketball camp-
Heisley used Peoria native Dana Davis as an example of that good character. Davis, the camp organizer and the Grizzlies’ vice president for basketball operations and team programs, has operated the camp with Anderson since its inception 16 years ago.
“Of all the people who work for me, none has a greater heart than Dana,” Heisley said. “Dana Davis dedicates his whole life to taking care of other people. There’s nothing anyone can do more than that. And he does it 100 percent.
“He always thanks me for doing this or that. I tell him, ‘Dana, the easiest thing in the world to give is money.’ The hardest thing in the world to give is time. The hardest of the hardest is to give 100 percent of your life to helping other people, which is what he does. He’s a helluva man. All my life I’ve never met anyone like him.”
