  • Any Valley coaches on the HOT SEAT this year?

Any thoughts?? Mark Phelps at Drake?? Marty at Evansville??
I'd have to think all the rest are pretty solid because of success or being a new arrival...

Phelps is in his 5th season and has barely broke .500 only twice...
if Drake has many of the "never higher than 4th" fans, then the seat under Phelps might get warm...

Simmons in his 6th year is 67-88 and has kind of underproduced largely...
16-16 with one of the league's premier players may get the fans a bit more upset this year - but is the money there to fire him and get someone else??

I think Phelps is sitting on the hottest seat.
I am thinking he needs to avoid the Play-in-game in St. Louis for sure, or else he might be toast. I'm pretty sure the expectations are not Top 3 or even 4 anyways with the loss of RR, but I'm sure they expect to improve from last season's Valley record (9-9?)

I would say a Top 5 Valley finish would give him a solid chance to stay. They have seemed to land some good recruits the past few seasons under Phelps, but have somewhat underachieved. In my mind, they overachieved for most of last season, but kinda' faded near the end.

I don't see any other head coach on the hot seat...not even close actually.
Like most seasons, we have a pretty good core of head coaches. Much to be proven for Muller & the 'Birds, but I think he'll be a fine coach...and I don't imagine it will be too many seasons for Barry's Bears to be back to Top half Valley finishers.

      Barry's Bears??

Reminds me of a couple times that the talking heads at ESPN and elsewhere have called Bradley the "Bradley Bears"...

Oops! My bad, though it's not quite as bad as analysts with this kind of faux pas...and that's with the school AND the team name together!
I wouldn't be calling them the SIU Bears or Missouri St. Salukis.

Just hard to separate Barry's connection to Missouri State!!
        Edit: Barry's Dawgs.
