    Biggest hire

This is the best hire at Bradley in years. To get a top notch guy away from the big 10 and get him at Bradley is huge. People don't realize how big of a deal this is but will get it very soon. Huge kudos to Geno for selling Bradley to Chin which also shouldn't be overlooked either.

I wonder if Geno would/has agreed to give up any salary to land good assistants. The head football coach at Clemson gave up nearly $300,000 of his salary to make sure his assistants were paid well.

I sure hope to see the payoff ASAP...but time will tell........
some AAU guys like Frank Martin and Dalonte Hill have reaped benefits but others haven't panned out - one of the most notable of those is.......
Lance Irvin....... I recall numerous schools from DePaul to Mizzou to Texas A&M to ISU to SIU all hiring Lance Irvin because of his supposedly "strong Chicago AAU connections" ..but in the end after gobs of different gigs, he never landed anyone while walking off with some pretty handsome paychecks...
Try if you want, but I can't find a single Chicago kid he landed anywhere of any significance...even his own bio boasts only of Paul McPherson who didn't exactly put anyone on the map.

Just like I do with most recruits I'll wait it out to see what they bring to the table. On paper this sounds great and would be hard for anyone not to be a bit excited even the most pessimistic fans on this board.

Gerry I hope you are right! I'm betting you know something that the rest of us would like to know.

This makes me even more excited to be getting Chin Coleman at BU!
Even though I'm a certified Husker hater, I'd caution you not to read too much into that. Miles didn't even give Chin a position at Nebraska that allowed him to go on the road and recruit (Husker fans are not real knowledgeable when it comes to basketball).

I do think it is a great hire for you guys. He was an assistant last year under Miles at Colorado St and should have several pans in the fire. I hope he gets you guys some good talent and helps reopen Chicago to MVC schools.

???This was a really tough decision to make,??? Coleman said. ???I have a good job. But at the same time, after meeting with coach Ford and hearing his vision for the program and having had a wonderful meeting with President Joanne Glasser, it was just a no-brainer."

It sounds like there may be more to the story if you read the comment. That person said that the player actually contacted Miles and asked him to visit. Maybe he's having second thoughts about committing to UL?

The player that Tim Miles went to see and talk to, Akoy Agau, was verbally committed to Louisville, but has not signed a NLI yet (the signing period doesn't start until Nov. 14-21, 2012). So technically, Miles did not do anything illegal by the rules of the NCAA and NLI. But some might see it as a bit unethical. However, coaches like Pitino and Calipari* do these kinds of things all the time if they covet a recruit and they think he might not be solidly committed to the school they veraballed to. The reason it's news is because lesser coaches like Miles aren't supposed to do this to the top dogs like Pitino and Louisville.
But Miles' job is to make Nebraska competitive in the Big 10, both in winning and recruiting. I can't blame him for trying.

For the record- Akoy Agau now says he is firmly committed to Louisville.

                          * here is a similar example of a highly ranked recruit in 2010 (Terrence Jones) who held a press conference in May, 2010 and announced he was signing with Washington over strong recruiting pressure from Kentucky. Before his nationally televised press conference was finished, Coach Calipari talked to him by phone and persuaded him not to sign with Washington. A few days later, he signed with Kentucky instead.

nope - poaching other teams' commits is not a new idea....Calhoun did it all the time at UConn and grabbed Charlie Villanueva after he committed to Illinois- and of course Kelvin Sampson got Eric Gordon to decommit from Bruce Weber...
Bill Self is good at it, too grabbing Josh Selby off Tennessee's commit-list & the Morris Twins from Memphis, and Xavier Henry from Memphis, but Calipari is the king of recruiting other teams' commits - with Terrence Jones, Demarcus Cousins, and now he's working on Indiana's recent decommit, Trey Lyles...and Xavier decommit Chris Thomas.
