This hiring may be creating doubts about Nebraska's head coach Miles as Coeman was considered his "most important hire" -- http://www.cornnation.com/2012/9/21/...bout-tim-miles
This makes me even more excited to be getting Chin Coleman at BU!

Great news. This is a hire I can get excited about!Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

So BU is willing to play the game to recruit the very best you believe? What he brings is AAU Chicago connections and playing in that world is something BU has done in the peripheral. I'm not against it, its just we have not done anything close to that since before the AAU days with Vercase. If we want to be the best we need to recruit the best.
Anyway welcome to the hilltop and may you're recruiting take us where we all want to be."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

Chicago Sun Times story - some press in Chitown!
"He wants to get the word out.
"I see it as like a street pastor on corner preaching," says Coleman. "I
want to preach the gospel of Bradley basketball. I want to help make
everyone aware of what Bradley has to offer and do whatever coach Ford
needs in doing that."
BTW -- maybe I am mistaken but it seems we've had the conversation on the boards for a few years at least - where we have discussed the pros and cons of hiring an assistant who is well-connected in the Chicago HS & AAU scene...
I have personally been a strong proponent of doing such but we have had those who said we should not.
Wonder why it took so long for us to get this done.
I love Willie but he had never coached high school or AAU in or around Chicago. Hopefully this hire will pay off.

One reason we were able to attract an assistant like Coleman is that we are paying him a reported $115,000 (it is likely more than that) and he is not even our top assistant. That is about twice what Willie Scott was paid, and way more than any previous new assistant coaches have ever been paid. I like the dedication to the recruiting, and let's hope it pays off quickly.
