I am very pleased with how many are BU grads and committed lifelong fans...
given that some of the people who I meet at the games are more of the choice 6 types who don't show when the going gets rough

I think you will find that most fans who participate on these message boards are "super fans". We don't all share the same opinions and vison but there can be little doubt that we will follow BU through thick and thin.

question for anyone who is a current student...
I assume they still have organized intramural basketball for the students - do they play at Markin and how competitive is it??
we used to play on the Fieldhouse floor and it was pretty competitive ..

It's funny, I never looked at the fact that I didn't actually attend Bradley as making me lesser of a fan. I started going to games in 1991 (when I was 9), regularly in 1994 (hence, Anthony Parker is my all-time favorite player), and after attending college out of state, I moved back to Peoria and go to 90% of the games.

I consider Bradley to me MY team and MY school even though I didn't attend there. Partially because a good chunk of my family attended there, included my wife. And our donation checks are weighted heavily toward Bradley, not Iowa.

it doesn't make you lesser of a fan...I thought the choices clearly noted that - in fact - all BU grads have a natural reason to be fans but the non-alums are kinda special in that they willingly chose to adopt BU as their team.

Like some other posters here, I grew up watching the Braves in the P-town area. I wasn't fully into the Braves, but loved watching college hoops - especially the ISU-BU rivalry.

I didn't really follow the Braves whole-heartedly until the '93-94 season when I started college (outside of state) I have learned ever since then - once a Braves fan, ALWAYS a Braves fan...no matter WHERE you live!

What do you love about BU hoops???For me:
                + Great tradition
+ Extreme loyalty & pride in fans
+ Respectful, intelligent, and friendly fan base
+ Lovable head coaches! (from Mo to Jimmy to Geno)...Some may not share my sentiments
+ Generally long, athletic teams - fun to watch most seasons
+ The colors (Walt would agree!)
                + Excellent student-athlete representatives
+ I love rooting for the mid-majors and consider it a more "exclusive" club to cheer for a school that most do not.
+ Bradleyfans.com Seriously, this is about the only way I know to follow & talk Braves hoops & college hoops ALL YEAR! And for those outside Peoria, you don't know how great that is!

I recently graduated...but back when i was in school (3 months ago) I played every year. Freshman and Sophomore year (5 years here) it was at Haussler before moving to Markin.

The last two years the championship of each league is at the RC.

C league is ultra-noncompetitive... there are usually 1-2 competitive teams and then 5-8 terrible fraternity teams.

B league and A league are competitive and I have watched A league games just because they were fun to watch.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear enough...I wasn't saying anything about your response options, it was more of an overall observation/revelation...

They are quite competitive, and the Fraternity games get even more heated. My fraternity won last year and it was a pretty good game

I grew up in Peoria down the street from the Fieldhouse. My parents are life long BU fans, since my dad teaches there and my mom attended. My brother, sister, aunt and uncle all attended BU as well. We were raised BU fans and that has stuck with me. Even when I went to school at Drake I still rooted for BU when they came to town. In fact, I even wore my Bradley sweatshirt while sitting in the Drake student section for the 4 years I was there.

Since I live in Des Moines now, I attend most of the Drake games, but I still follow and root for Bradley, even when they play Drake.
