  • Laugh of the night...

Something on ESPN said to the effect of ... the Illini with their first "real test" tonight against Maryland.

Even if you're dumb enough to just look at the scores ... would you consider a 4-point win "not a test"? How about the fact that Bradley was beating the Illini for 34 minutes?

The mid-major haterade is being drank by the gallon again!

    Close runner-up:

In game flip to a pre-game interview with Gary Williams. Asked something about playing on the road at tough arenas. His answer was he "loved going on the road and playing at other teams' arenas".

Laugh of the night for real as seconds were winding down in the game ...

Musberger: The Illini need to get moving, they have to start jackin' it!

Everybody has a little 5th grader in them can laugh at that one!

I was hoping they'd pull it out too as much as it pained me.
          Go Braves!

I took the same approach with the hatred for G Williams.

But then again, I was pleased to see the Illini lose. They also lost their winning streakS.

Then I got to thinking of what life would be like if the Illini had won.

            I'm happy with the outcome.

As for G Williams - I hope Missouri St (or any other MVC team) draws Maryland in the NCAA tourney.

I wonder if Bruce is 2nd guessing himself using Jamar against us rather than saving him for Maryland. Seems like a misprioritization of the games to me.

                Maybe so. Maybe so.

Or is Illinois losing to an in-state MVC school predicted to finish toward the bottom of the MVC more important to the state 'flagship' school right now? Recruiting is being questioned in Illini Nation. Elite status has slipped by and maybe gone?

It was VERY important for Illinois to beat Bradley.

And then hope they could protect a home win against Maryland (without Ebekwe).

I think B Weber prioritized it correctly.

I wondered that too about Weber using the ace in the hole in Jamar Smith. I would content that beating Maryland with the long home streak and national tv would be a bigger victory than beating BU last Saturday night.

During the segment right before to the Illini game, ESPN had three analyst talk about the game. Each one of them gave an incorrect stat about Illinois (Fraiser being a freshmen, only McBride's second game back from suspension and something else). Then, just to trump that, they talked about the whole ACC/Big Ten challenge and Stacy, who had just picked Illinois to win, talked about how Duke, UNC and MARYLAND were too tough at the top and would win the bragging rights for the ACC.
