Sorry, when I took logos 101 at BU, I guess I must have slept thru the part where they talked about what makes a good logo. So I know with my limited knowledge my opinion doesn't mean much, but hopefully the zero dollars I spend for myself and my family will show how uninformed logo families feel.

I really don't get the boring thing - "I" for Illinois, the "Ms" for Michigan and Minnesota, "S" for Michigan State...there are plenty of other examples of logos that would without too much stretching be labeled as more boring than this shield with a "B".
I like the new logo...the rest of you saying that you don't or that you won't buy any apparel with it on it probably wouldn't have like anything new anyway.
It is certainly stronger and more "traditional" than our recent "BU" with script "Braves". Which I believe couldn't appear on any of the uniforms our teams wore because it said "Braves" on it.
And for all of you who think you could design better I would urge you to start your own company because my guess is that BU paid a pretty penny for what you see. If you can do it better, I'm sure there is a fortune in it for you.

In all seriousness, what I was hoping for was something that would make me rush over to bradley after I got off work, stand in a line, and buy all I could to wear proudly and represent. That didn't come close to happening.

Unwearable???
NO...I WILL NOT WEAR THAT SHIRT.
Seriously??? Is the shield to much of a militaristic symbol for you? Think you might look like a super hero with a big lettered shield on your chest? What could possibly make this unwearable?
Its Bradley Red and White with a BIG B on it. Methinks you're making a mountain out of this molehill.
Anyhow, by the time they are ready to change this one out 20-30 years from now your BUBraves gear will be pretty tattered. Maybe you should pick a new team.

What exactly does the old logo say about BU? That BU players can write in cursive?
The good part about this is that it allows for a uniform brand that allows for an apparel agreement. Now you can replace the generic Champion/proforma/hanes stuff with brand name merchandise. The logo is/was/maybewillbe supplemented with that secondary logo which could be a very cool look.
In the end all I care about is winning basketball (and other sports) games. That will be the best brand building of all. Although I (as a 20something) am much more likely to buy something with this B and shield on it than the old crusty cursive that my dad wears.

I do not like the shield part of the logo. I will agree with a few others and say they could have just gone with the "B" part of the logo.
The shield is too soft, IMO. If they had made it bolder and sharper maybe. When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

And many schools no longer teach cursive. It is becoming obsolete. Time to move on to something current.

Those who say it's "boring" or "bland" don't really understand much about what a good logo should be. Simple is almost always better. Many major universities are even more simplistic than our new logo. Nebraska has a simple block N, Wisconsin uses a simple W, Michigan has a fairly simple M, etc.

And if you really think that changing a logo has any effect on a school's history or tradition, you're just being silly. A new logo doesn't in any way diminish the great accomplishments of past Braves. Not to mention, the old BU block logo was only about 20-25 years old so it didn't really have that much "history" or "tradition" behind it anyway.

After looking at the The Brand Usage and Style Guide:
I like the new block B and the shield.
I actually like the incorrect logo with the inverted red and white (red shield, red B with white outline) better than that logo they went with.
The old logo really pops off the page next to the new "incorrect" examples. Seems a lot stronger side-by-side.Return to Glory
